Pearson - What Took So Long?

He is a quality winger.

I wasn't expecting him to do so well on his debut, but that was the highlight of the night for me. Watching him play well.. And not making me look like a fucking idiot for praising him so much.

But he's never fit for long.

Unfortunately this is true. Kahu is injured more often than not. Also his kicking isn't much better than Parkers.

Pearson went pretty well. Certainly more noticeable (to me anyway) in the game than Roberts. I hope he gets to play next week and show us what he's capable of.

Can't wait to see more of him. He looks to have the right mix of size, agility and speed. Can finish a try and most of his carries out of our end were good. Can't wait to see how he goes when he gets tested under the highball and in defence.

Its been so frustrating watching so many clubs bringing through exciting young wingers who can finish, when we have really struggled to find genuine wingers. I'm not jumping the gun but hopefully Pearson can atleast be a good back up once Kahu gets back.

Seeya Eden and Maranta.

How good is it to finally see a natural winger at the end of our backline. Although it's hard to judge a player after a single game, but surely in that one game alone he showed enough to keep his spot over Maranta. ..... .

That's what is special for mine, that is what JYY had and I haven't seen that quality since then (not even in Oates who does of course come close but still for mine is not a natural winger).

I think the clubs biggest problem has been underestimating the importance of real wingers. For far too long and even still, we've stocked up on fullbacks, centres, backrowers or just utility players, and then forced them to play wing.

Winger's have very specific roles who obviously need natural ability, but more importantly require particular football instinct's relevant to their position, that perhaps a non-winger won't have. We've not had a specialist winger since Yow Yeh, and it's about time we've got somehow who can hopefully cement down a spot on the wing.

Some of the attitude from people about this game..

"Oh it was only against the Eels"

Last year we flogged the Rabbitohs who were well out of form and clearly fatigued as **** and missing Inglis and people were saying we were premiership favourites.

We flog the Eels, their biggest loss of the season and people say it means nothing.

Edit: And this is in the wrong thread.

I like Kahu, safe as under the highball, can score a try and if we ever have an issue with Boyd he is quite the fullback in his own right... AND he kicks goals.. wait and see I suppose, with Kahu coming back maybe Pearson stays and Opacic drops out?

At the moment, surely you can't drop Opacic or not pick Kahu over a one game rookie?

I don't think we can really drop Kahu...but is sure nice to have some quality competition for those spots

If Kahu plays in the centres I'd keep Pearson on the wing over Opacic, or if Kahu plays on the wing(which is what I expect) then Pearson drops off

Credit to Pearson scoring a double on debut.

He had a great game.

Haha, how nervous was he in the post-match interview with Locky?

The interview was brilliant, I'm happy for him and I hope he has a good career!

Great stuff last night; I love seeing ISC guys get a crack. It was only end of 2014 he was playing local league in Yeppoon. Redcliffe has been great for him this year. Like I have said a couple of times he stood out in ISC straight away scoring two tries last year against Ipswich when he was at the Capras for a while.

That's what no media training and unfiltered joy looks like.

Come next year he'll have "good team performance, taking it one week at a time" etc down pat
