I would have preferred to have kept Ashton than get Carlaw that is for sure. Depth signing but if he plays in round 1 I will be pissed.

Depends on trial form.

If Carlaw plays exceptionally well, then give him a shot.

So when Ben Hunt plays exceptional well in the trials do you think he will be in the team??

I'd still rather carlaw on the cheap than morrin who someone said was rumoured

No player ever comes back from England better than when they left. This is a waste of time and money. Would rather take a punt on a Q Cup kid than a has been like Jane.

Definitely.

Only a few players should be dead set certs. Wallace isn't one of them.

Yeah. Only walk up starts for round 1 are Locky, Hodges, Thaiday, Hannant and Parker. They just have to be fit and they play.

Hard to see Hoffman, Yow Yeh, Teo, Gillett, Wallace or McCullough missing out though.

I'd have Hoffman in that list, I can't see anybody taking that spot from him at this stage. Also Henjak may call a spade a spade and move Parker from lock to the second row.

But yeah I'd say the others have the inside running, although I certainly wouldn't discount their competition.

It's already been upgraded...

Besides every player is basically waiting until 2012 before signing again because of the tv deal.

Carlaw's best chance of playing NRL at the Broncos in 2011 is to go really well in the trials and grab a bench spot. he has no chance of getting a starting spot IMO, unless we get a ton of injuries/ origin selection from our pack.

Whatever. Someone else then.

What happens if a top line player wants out of a club mid-season and is asking for 400k but we already spent 100k from our remaining 400k on Carlaw? We'd fall short...Unlikely, but it's a possibility.[/quote:1red5scq]

^ this. I think it's a dumb, sentimental move.

There really isn't anyone else that needs to be resigned.

Also that's extremely unlikely and again you could easily backend that deal.

We get it you don't like Carlaw, it's not the worst thing to happen and I can't see the move biting us on the ass.

Agree with Rocky and Coxy.

He was an average (at best) forward when he left, and I bet he will be no better than that when he comes back, and as Coxy said there is a fair chance he will be worse. I just don't see the point of this when:

a) the money can be used to upgrade some contracts
b) we already have plenty of depth in the back row - Thaiday, Te'o, Parker, Gillett and Glenn, plus the young blokes coming through.

I just really feel that this money could've been better spent.

Henjak is a crap coach, I am sure Carlaw who is a crap player will somehow get into the side, absoltuely backwards decision to sign this never-was.

tony caroll

The club really has lost it a bit of late, fancy treating Ashton like crap and pushing him out of the club and signing Carlaw who is past his best [icon_shru
