The big point Henjak and Trad were pushing was that Carlaw knew the culture...apparently something Ashton didn't.

Not to mention he's well on half (if not on a third) of what Sims was on.

No player ever comes back from England better than when they left. This is a waste of time and money. Would rather take a punt on a Q Cup kid than a has been like Jane.
tony caroll

He was better in 1998-2000. He was still good when he came back which is an achievement. But not better.

What culture. The culture has changed since Carlaw has been here.[/quote:za249wry]

The culture changed when Bennett was told his services were not required after 2009.

They're obviously changing back by focussing on their own youth instead of fighting tooth and nail for new players.

I actually think the money would be better spent by just sitting in the kitty!

You're right Brizz. Backwards decision, backwards step. Backwards coach. Backwards club.

sigh.

Pretty sure they said they would front end a few current contracts with the Inglis money so as to have more money freed up in a year or twos time. Just like having it in the bank icon_thumbs_u

What?? How does signing Carlaw fit into this? [icon_shru

IMO the Carlaw contract is motivated by sentiment - I think he has the chance to play his 200th game here (or some milestone like that). But I agree with Rocky, Coxy and Jeb - bad signing decision and the money would have been better off in the bank. Just cause you have the money doesn't mean you have to spend it.

Wasn't he also quite a bit younger when he came back than Carlaw is now? That helps in itself.

sigh.

But these kind of backwards decisions have always been part of the broncos. We love nothing more than to resign has-beens on sentimental reasons alone

heard last night Quade Cooper will be a Bronco in 2012 taking Lockyer's position, guy can't tackle but my god is he a talented footballer.

So much shit changes in two years, even if this was true there's a very good chance he could change his mind by 2 years time.

Henjak is a crap coach, I am sure Carlaw who is a crap player will somehow get into the side, absoltuely backwards decision to sign this never-was.

Lol. Good theory. Have you seen some of the nuffies that played for QLD and Australia. Especially when Bennett was selecting from the Broncos?

Bennett single handedly ensured the culture would change with his Easts adventure.
This has been done to death in the past, but that was a watershed moment.
It certainly blazed a trail for the fast bowler.

Getting a bit off topic but just quietly the culture changed when we told Civo to bugger off and went and signed Clinton.

Just to keep it on topic, I don't know about Quade...he can make some really stupid decisions and I don't want a half to come up with those.

What, like Wallace. Nah. Wallace doesn't make decisions.

Has Wallace ever tripped a player as they try and return a ball back for a 20 restart?

Cooper is a drop kick...honestly. Talented...but a stupid player on the field.
