Another option might be to encourage Gillette's ball-playing rather than hole-hitting and have Jennings or somebody running off him. With Hodges on the other side, ball distribute pls halves ....

Hoffman is not a creative fullback but is long term for mine.

With 2 top centres and/or a bit more creative lock we could give Norman time to grow into the role while Wallace just guides us around the field.

Despite his family name, Hopoate is worth every bit of what Manly are gonna have to pay him to keep him. He looks bordering on sensational to me. We can't get even make an offer though. That may involve father John visiting, and we can't have that.

Oink !

It never ceases to amaze me how when I read a post from Pigskin looking at comparing players from different eras, I agree 100%.

And then when he assesses players in the current game I think how the **** do you come up with this shit? [icon_lol1.

Hunt never a #7?
Gillett a 5/8?
Hoffman not creative? (No less so than Slater, they're both finishers)

I think he was saying have Gillett as a ball playing lock ala Scott Hill mold for Australia.

That makes a bit more sense. But why fork out for a fluff like Jennings?

What is it about Hunt or Norman that people think is so special? I know they haven't played many NRL games but from what ive seen they arn't anything that special and if they really were the Broncos saviours they would either be playing NRL right now or another club would have offered at least 1 of them big cash, maybe they have I dont know but right now they are another 2 players that have "so much potential" but will kost likely be another Brett Seymour.

Can someone please tell me why people are so convinced Hunt and Norman are so amazing?

Norman has some great vision. I was at that game in Melbourne last year, and kept an eye on him all game. From memory, I think he played at 7. Watching him position himself in attack, direct the players around him and choosing when to run the ball and when/who to pass to, I feel that he was a huge part of our win that day. He's displayed this attacking nous at other times too, obviously not as consistently as I'd like. But I feel that if he were played at 6 for an entire season (2012 would be a great season for that!) he'd settle into the role and really blossom.

I agree with Dukey, I have had the view for a while that Norman has it, he just needs time to develop. He does have the vision and from what I have seen of him in the U20's he has the playmaker's ability to read the play ahead. I believe that he could develop into a 12 year career player for the broncos, if we all back off and give him a chance to develop. Some people seem to expect that playmakers suddenly appear at 17 fully developed and experienced and able to play like Lockyer and Johns in their prime. It doesn't happen, both he and Hunt need time to develop. Neither he nor Hunt has not been given a fair crack at either half or 5/8 to afford them the opportunity to show their wares. Ricky Stuart was saying the same thing last night on One Week at a Time, with young playmakers you have to give them time and be patient.

I don't want Jennings, just some strike centre ... not one that we have to nurture over the next 4 years before he is ready ... spend cash on a top centre rather than a half

And browny got it right with regards to Gillette

I don't see Hoffman as a creative #1 ... I love the way he plays, but he is a hole runner, support type #1

But i stand by my comments on Hunt, too slow, looks overweight ... not a #7

just clarifying
Oink !

Once again is there even any strike centres on the market. We tried to get inglis but that.didnt work out

!

Why bother? Reed is comming along top guns and Hodges is well Hodges... Brisbane 1-5 next year are fine.

1. Hoffman
2. Copely,Beale,Gagai
3. Reed
4. Hodges
5. Yow Yeh
I'm happy with that.

6. Norman/Hunt
7. Wallace

Confident but abit uneasy at the same time. Unless we can sign a gun player I'm happy to give them a shot. (JT,CC,QC)

9. Macca, Let the kid play 80minutes and he will be fine.

Jack Reed is fucking awesome. There is no need at all to move him, he is so solid.

There's no doubt Hoffman is a traditional style of fullback with limited ball skills. Agree with Pigskin 100%. He is long term though.

I agree too, but to say he's not creative is misleading. He may not play the 2nd 5/8 role but he will and does create things based on what's in front of him. Slater-like (but of course not in the same class yet).

I agree. He has setup a few beauties with a sharp movement and pass or a well placed kick already. Give him time and he will be a weapon of mass destruction.
Beale has been good at FB, but he lacks that X-factor IMO...

Maye we should look at another prop? Lets us play thaiday in the backrow, gives us an awesome forward pack which has to help out a new halves combo.

We have plenty of depth up front, only reason why Thaiday has been playing prop is because our Backrow is bloody awesome.

Rumours are that Hoffman has been approached by the Eels. Probably bulldust but still a rumour

It's probably true.

I doubt Hoffman will sign with them though, unless the Brisbane show him the door.

I'm sure we do, but another rep quality prop wouldnt go astray.

No sense in salary cap space going on no one. If we wont buy a half, why not a prop?

Where would he play? The only thing I can think of is Hayne to 5/8 Hoffman at fullback.

In saying that I can't see us letting him go, especially since we should have a bit of room in the cap as it is...
