I really don't see the point in going after Boyd. We have two really promising young fullbacks on the books now and considering the amount of money he would want, it wouldn't be smart having him sitting on the wing IMO. We don't need him, and to be honest, we don't really have room for him. We should invest our money in a replacement for Lockyer and secure our young talent also.

I wonder whether Hook sees him as a 5/8 or centre/winger... I'm more inclined with the first option, and wouldn't mind it at all, if Boyd performs as he did against St Helens. [icon_shru

And if Boyd doesn't cut it at 5/8 we have no room for him, Its a huge risk.

Hoffman means more to me than Boyd as a Bronco.

Boyd can play pretty much any position in the backline, not much of a risk imo. But he will take a spot away from one of our promising youngsters.
If not 5/8, I see him playing left centre with Reed moving up into the second row. Although, with Thaiday, Parker, Te'o, Gillett and Glenn ahead of him, he may not have much game time... [icon_confu

What evidence is there to suggest Boyd will be a success at 5/8? Has he played in that position for a prolonged period of time?

The few times he did, he played quite well actually, but by no means is a proven 5/8.
Which is why I posed the original question re what Hook sees him as, because I don't think we would be chasing him without Griffin's say so... [icon_shru

I still don't understand what people see in Boyd in terms of being a 5/8th. He seems like one of those players who picked up some ball playing skills at fullback, but that's as far as he'll go. I mean Hunt had infinitively more talent passing and kicking the ball, and he's played 5/8th since he was a jnr, and even he couldn't do anything there in first grade.

That wouldn't sit well with a few people here haha.

What's doing with John Te Reo?

We signed him back up, didn't we?

He used to go alright...back in the day.

Wondering about him too now that you mention it.
