Player Movements and Rumours 2012

but huge offers are going to be thrown at most of our side when they are up for renewal

Yeah, this is a bit of a worry for mine.

We've been so impressive this season, everyone will want a piece of our squad. Will be interesting to see how we manage it, but I have faith in Andy Gee and Paul White to get things right.

Typically we don't enter bidding wars for players, the club usually gives them their best offer up front.

Glenn has already signed a 3+ year contract this year I believe. Once the time is up, we can see how much he's worth then.

Only way I see us losing a gun is if a second Brisbane side comes in. We won't lose the ones we want to keep IMO

Didn't Teó's manager get suspended?

Yes.

But Te'o is signed with the management company his manager works for, so he can be 'assigned' a new manager for 6 months.

His manager won't miss out on his %

I wonder how the broncos would approach it if Glenn got offered 400-500k at the Warriors? It all depends on how much the salary cap increases by then though but huge offers are going to be thrown at most of our side when they are up for renewal

well surely if and when the salary cap increases the broncos will be better placed to counter some of these ridiculous "all in" offers that other clubs seem to be able to conjour up ...

I wonder how Souths plan on convincing everyone they're not using 'perfermance enhancing books' if Dave Taylor pulls the pin on his Titans deal .. ?! With Te'o heading there on big money along with Taylor, Inglis, Asotasi, Isaac Luke, Sutton, Merritt, Burgess, Crocker, Matt King et al hardly coming cheap ....

Have you seen the trade Redfern Marine is doing lately?

Frankly that list of players is worse than ours. Thaiday, Hodges, Hannant, Wallace, Hoffman, Parker, McGuire, Gillett, Glenn are a better group. Obviously some of them are on their rookie year contracts, but it's not like we can point to the talent of a playing group and criticize for being over the cap.

And besides, your list is invalid because it included Sutton. Sutton belongs in no list about salary caps, unless that list is reasons why it's being mis-spent.

hmm I don't see your point, considering the overs souths would have had to pay to get taylor, inglis, asotasi and burgess

Nightingale would be fantastic. Doubt he'd leave the Dragons though.

Elia reckons we have Will Hopoate all sown up. :haha:

Would rather we signed a good talent in the NYC then sign a player like Nightingale. It'd be cheaper & depending on the player, better in the long term.

Agreed. Omar Slaimankhel is a talent. And with Inglis and Everingham going well at Souths, if James Roberts were ever released he looks a great prospect too.

We should sign Omar for his name alone! Ray Warren wouldn't even come close to getting that right. :haha:

In all seriousness, the Warriors have a hell of a lot of talent coming through... they're not going to find a spot for all of them.

I can't speak for the under 20's but in the QCup, Whitchurch is showing the most promise, although he is more at home in the centres than on the wing. Still, he's better than Copley I think.

Lachlan Maranta was 18th man on friday so they must have fairly high regard for him.

Big Pete might be the best one to answer this - am I right in thinking that the Broncos have realized that the best place for our fringe players to be is the QCup and not the Toyota Cup? I think Whitchurch, Maranta and Frei are all still eligible for Toyota Cup yet they are playing QCup each week - which is a good thing I reckon.

Spot on Jeb.

We should have stuck with that system from the get go but being cellar dwellers wasn't a good look.

Be interesting to see if any of the current crop get a call up next year. I reckon Timu & Berwick would be the most likely to get the call up.
