Player Movements and Rumours 2012

Nah Reynolds is a half/hooker. No way would I even consider playing him there, I got laughed at for suggesting Reed despite his obvious strong points that would work as a fb.

With our current state in the fullback position I think if we do buy him he's worth a shot at fullback. Besides his unknown ability under the highball I think he has the skillset to be potentially successful at the position. Unless we're going to use him as a full time 5/8 and drop Norman that is.

Our old mate who is close with Gagai says he's been chatting to Will Hopoate and says he wants to stay in Brisbane and play under Kearney.

Hopefully that Eels contract isn't 100% and we could snag him for 2014 as fullback.

Hopoate is a very good player, would definitely like to sign him. There's definitely some positives to signing Kearney and I reckon his "star power" is one of them, he would aid in potential signing discussions.

Yeah I'm serious. If Hoffman doesn't improve 10 fold next year then we don't exactly have many options, Norman is not really a good option. Joe Bond is all good and well but the guy might be no good at first grade, hopefully he is though and we can have a Barba type player at the back.

We don't really know if Renoylds would be good or bad at fullback but I think a trial game or two there would give us a good idea. Could be great, could be a flop.

Have you changed your diet or something?? You have been dribbling some unbelievable shit of late. Why don't we sign Thurston and play him at fullback?

Trust you to get your knickers in a knot haha.

I believe he thinks he is close to gagai and I believe he thinks he talks to hoppa.

As far as hoppa goes I would love to see him at the broncs, however unfortunately I think this rumour has just been put together by people going hoppa is in Brisbane + Brisbane have a team + their fb is playing like a busted = hoppa is going to the broncs

Haha yeah grain of salt and all that, rumours make the off-season go round.

Will came knocking on my door a few weeks back, we didn't talk about what they came for for 1 second, talked to 'Elder' about footy - he never mentioned Parra once, the guy who came with him just walked around in circles on my driveway while we were having a good chat. He does seem happy here, thought he looks nothing like the footy player, too many soups I think.

Oh. gave him the thumbs up as he left, got a smirk out of him..

No to Will. These guys dont come back well after losing two formative development years.

anyone able to translate this ??

I'd be more worried about someone coming back from a horrible injury (like Yow Yeh) than someone who has simply been out of the game for 2 years. He's looks a naturally gifted footballer so he shouldn't have a problem coming back.

14 tries, making the Origin side and winning a premiership in your first full year is impressive.

Not at all - this is a kid who wouldnt have even THOUGHT about footie. Yow Yeh is at least still in the system. He's getting quality, daily interaction with a professional set up - he's around training, video sessions etc. Mind and body are being catered for. IIRC he was even assisting the coaching staff somewhere.

I'd say a weights program is the extent of Lil' Hoppa's interaction. He is going to suck, and suck real bad. At his age you just can't make up the time.

But how many Top 8 teams did we beat. I know we beat Souths twice and touched the Raiders up at home but other than that I don't recall us winning any game against the teams that were in contention* for the premiership. I do agree our non-spine is quite strong, but not sure one player is enough. At least not without a change in the way we play our football.

*FOR THE BENEFIT OF COMPOUND FRACTURE, WHEN I SAY TEAMS WERE IN "CONTENTION" FOR THE PREMIERSHIP, I MEAN IT IN THE SENSE THAT THEY HAD A LEGITIMATE CHANCE OF WINNING, AND DO NOT INTEND FOR IT TO BE INTERPRETED THAT WE DID NOT BEAT TEAM WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE NRL PREMIERSHIP IN SEASON 2012.

We were 1 tackle away from beating the Cowboys in round 2 & if it wasn't for Parker's broken kicking tee we would have beat Manly before Origin 1. Also, desperately out of form, we almost got the cash against Melbourne. We held our own against Top 8 sides for the majority of the season. We just didn't have the polish (or players) to close those games out.
