I have met young Hunt a few times and I do not believe he would move on for money, but rather for lack of opportunity. I am also of the opinion that he will be a better half than Smith and will prove to be out best post-Locky option - if he is given the opportunity.

Yeah, but they wouldn't put a 19 year old into a finals game, so obviously he's not good enough..................

That's right and they prefered to have him leading the U20s around as he had done all year as let's face it they were a better shot at winning that night anyway; so clearly he is rubbish - silly me.

Glad you finally see the light.

Hunt's had 2 first grade games and didn't score 10 tries and setup 42 tries for other players, therefore he's not good enough. Let him go.

Don't overdo the sarcasm guys.

Oh ok. I won't overdo the sarcasm. SorrrrrrrrrrrrY!

I like my sarcasm medium rare.

I have heard that the roosters are interested in signing James Graham from St. Helens. At 25 he would be a great pick up for the broncos. Would be mad to not throw our hat in the ring and go for him!

Will the next big thing live up to the hype?
Think Brett Seymour / Michael Ryan ( Is that his name? - the hooker from a couple of years ago who was hyped by the sanctum).
Will the NBT move on because of career potential? - money / opportunity.
Well the emotion / vitriol of the fans be justified with the outcome?
Will anyone be satified?

Sorry Rocky but with a mentality of that then the Broncos would have given up on Shane Webcke after not setting the world on fire after the first few games where he was anything but sensational off the blocks and he didn't displace Lazo or Gee in the starting lineup in his debut season, it took him a number of seasons to do that and with a mentality that you have adopted it would have seen the Broncos looking elsewhere if they shared it, in which case would have seen the club miss out on arguably the best forward the club has developed, if not had. Not every player past and present shows what they are capable straight of the blocks, for some it can take a number of seasons be it in the lower grades like the Queensland Cup or the bigtime like the NRL to see it and to believe otherwise is ignorant of the truth.

As for the Ben Hunt and Johnathan Thurston comparison I have to disagree with you there, he came into a side that was already well and truely on the way up, the experience was there in the key positions when he made his debut and continued playing he had a much easier and less pressured situation to enter the scene compare that to Ben Hunt who made his debut when the experience wasn't there, where the team as a whole didn't play up to their potential and that made it that much harder for him to do well, he may never be a superstar of the game but to write him off after two games in different circumstances is wrong IMO.

Too quick to write Hunt off there Rocky. His two games for the Broncos have been a massive ask for him - with us being MASSIVELY understrength in both and severely outmuscled in both contests. If you throw a young Johnathon Thurston, Jarryd Hayne or Billy Slater in the same situation the result would be much the game. I am not saying that Ben Hunt will be as good as these 3 (nor am I saying he won't) but you cannot deny his Under 20's form has been exceptional and before you say "it's only under 20's" well that's the opportunity he has been given and he has shown that he has a lot of potential to be a "star". Even in the game at Skilled Park last year, his performance in the second half in a beaten side was very promising. The way he stepped up to run the show, never giving up when your team is 30 points down, that's very promising as far as I'm concerned.

If we had to choose between Ben Hunt and Tim Smith, I'd take Ben Hunt.

I have never said that Ben Hunt IS the next big thing. But I have seen a lot of good things from him in the lower grades - both U20s and Q Cup. In fact I think they should have left him in Q-Cup last year instead of another year in U20s (but that's another story).

However all I want is for him to be given a real and genuine opportunity in NRL for the Broncos to show if he has the goods or not at that level.

And as for the players listed above that were superstars from the start - there are also plenty that weren't and developed into their game. There are also plenty who looked like superstars in their first season or two and then didn't/couldn't back it up - Tim Smith falls into this category, though I also hope to see him return to top form.

Wow, that is quite interesting.

I don't want us to pay overs for him though.

Article also mentions Petero.

He's contracted, doubt he'll be let go.

Brought him into the system then:

He left us - for the roosters
Came back - we developed him into the prop he is today then
Left us again - for the dogs
Now coming back? I dont think so.

No matter how good Hannant is, I don't want any player back who leaves us twice and then the possibility of returning yet again comes up. No thanks.

Especially when we will no doubt have to pay well and truly overs to get the guy. Lets just have a look at the guys we have for a month before we start thinking about replacing them.

You do know that most of the storys the media make up are distorted right? They find someone whos off contract and make a good story out of it. I don't think he'll be returning, and quite frankly, I dont want him either. Given that Sims is off contract I'd re-sign Sims before I bought him.

i dont want us buying anyone until the current crop are signed up for a least 3 years...
