HE WAS enemy No. 1 in Queensland just a year ago, but now all three NRL teams north of the border are at war for Greg Bird's signature, with the Broncos the latest club to join the fight.

Brisbane have joined the Titans and the Cowboys in the hunt for Bird, who was found not guilty this week of assaulting girlfriend Katie Milligan. Looking at life after Darren Lockyer, the Broncos have contacted Bird's manager Gavin Orr and expressed interest in signing the former Shark.

No thanks. He's a turd.

Letting Clinton go and then signing that tit, it would be a joke.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

According to BRONCO magazine the club is looking to extend the contracts of Andrew McCullough, Josh McGuire, Ben Hunt, Jharal Yow Yeh and Antonio Winterstein.

Lockyer will be finalising his two year deal when he comes back.

McCullough is a gun, and we need to keep him at all costs.
Hunt... well yeah, everyone talks him up, yet he's got a blank resume really.
Yow Yeh needs to stay.
Winterstein should stay too, he's going to improve.

However, it would be great to have some big name players again...

I agree with Nashy. McCullough, Yow Yeh and Winterstein, in that order should be priority signings.

he needs time, his got a huge future but his a confidence player. We really need him playing a few games from the bench as has been said.

Sorry but B.Hunt is the 1 player ill always defend such a great bloke.

I would hate to see Ben Hunt become the next Brett Seymour or Joel Moon. Both talked up heaps and both did nothing really.

Joel moon at the broncos was not used the way he should have been. it killed his confidence

Seymour well his shot himself in the foot hasnt he.

Brisbane Broncos forward Joel Clinton is expected to confirm he is joining English Super League outfit Hull KR by the end of the weekend.

Brisbane will begin pre-season training on Monday but it appears highly unlikely that the experienced front-rower will be there.

Honestly cannot understand this decision.

i can. $275,000 for what? might as well put it in the bank and earn some interest on it. i don't think we will be much worse off without him.

Its the best thing for clinton, he has been told he isnt wanted and he wont be re-signed, why wouldnt he want to secure his financial future for the next few years... the opportunity may not be there in 12 months time... if only marsh would do the same...

Henjak like any new coach is trying to make his own mark and implement a plan for the next few seasons that he thinks will get the job done and Clinton and a few others are not in his plans... hes achieved quite alot in his first season, bringing along guys that will be the backbone of the club for years to come, McCullough, Yow Yeh, Glenn, McGuire, Winterstein.... I couldnt fault the way these guys performed in their first season and wouldnt swap them for anyone... Makes winning a comp that much sweeter when it isnt bought... Showed stones letting a few established guys leave but Henjak knew what he had coming through and has been vindicated....

Great Post!
I agree with this 100%!

This is the exact reason I hate when the broncos buy players.
Damn salary cap though, in 2-3 years these guys values will increase & it will be ripped apart all over again. worst thing about the game today, cheering for 'your players' in the past has what has made fans feel so apart of their teams, you become attached to your players. knowing those players have been there for a period of time together, through the ups and downs, and you know that they are your players. not this changing every year or 2, dont you want players playing in your team who actually are passionate about the team just as much as the true fans who never leave the club regardless of players leaving or joining the club??
