POST GAME POST GAME [Round 6, 2023] Broncos vs Raiders

Needs to watch Murray & Yeo. Hopefully he gets there.

He's already been doing it though on a consistent basis. Its one ordinary game in a game where pretty much everyone was ordinary. Even the blokes you mentioned have ordinary games. Its only an issue when it start to happen regularly.

The Raiders kick chase was committed and good and our kick chase game was abysmal. The Raiders may have played their GF tonight and easily our worst game of the year. Reynolds was easing outpointed by Fogarty who had a great game with the boot.

Saying that Walsh bombed a try trying to pass when he was already over the line and Cobbo dropped a dead set sitter on their line. Saying that his first effort to muscle past two players to score was good.

Even in the on field warm up we looked flat and continued it into the game. Capewell also has to get that one stupid penalty a game crap out of his game.

Haas and Jensen played well and some of Atkins decisions were baffling and earned more than a few bullshit calls from the crowd throughout the night.

Probably a good thing we bombed those tries and didn't win as we definitely need a reset with Reece Walsh especially needing to not try and push passes that just aren't on.

Thought Riki had a good game and he had a good battle with big Papa who he belted every time he ran the ball.

On our attack. I thought we tried to go around them too early with Patty and Haas passing instead of tucking the ball under the arm and taking their forwards on up the middle. We need to to the hard stuff up the middle first then once the defence tires then go for the offloading forward play. Also if Patty and Haas want to be ball players they need to go deeper into the line before passing because passing 5 meters before the line just lets the defence slide onto the receiver.

Another thing I noticed is that we keep going say right for two tackles get the defence stretched then for some reason we go back to the left and straight back into the arms of the entire Raiders forward pack. I thought Walters again out played Paix (and I'm no fan of Walters) but a good dummy half would pick up on this and dummy to the runner back on the left but take off right and if nothing else would put either Staggs or Cobbo one on one with their opposite numbers.

I also think it's time we started taking some of the pressure off Reynolds and let Staggs take the kicks at goal. I'd much rather give Reynolds a break from all the kicking duties and have him getting into the ears of our young players after a try is scored.

Didn't watch the entire game. Canberra should have had a man in the bin after they conceded 3 consecutive six agains, the ref was letting way too much shit go, we played horribly, Canberra showed up to play but still should have lost, that Rapana error ought to have been a try and the bunker + ref probably knew their only way out was to award a pen.
This. So fucken true. They kept giving away penalties, knowing full well the Broncos won’t take the 2 (can’t). Fucken cheating *****. The ref should’ve stepped in.

The whole team was lacking energy. Everyone wanted the flashy, “our fucken home” play. There was 1 set in the second half where Cobbo ran like a man possessed into the line, followed by Staggs.
They were the only 2 real hit ups. Telegraphing your intentions by passing 100m before the defensive line isn’t fooling anyone.

I dont even know what a Skeepe is.

I cant believe they are dumb enough to take me seriously.
Some cross forum shit, never mind @Wolfie

If you need to lose to learn lessons, then you can't exactly make the claim that the side has turned a corner.

Panthers, Storm, the top teams the past few seasons, they put in a rubbish performance one week but still win they will come back and put on a clinic the following.

You can learn lessons winning, as well. That's one reason why video reviews exist.

Adams kick offs to start the game/set aren’t deep enough which gave the Raiders a leg up in attack. This happened throughout the game. By the time their 5th tackle is up, they’re almost 30m away from our goal line which gave them a huge advantage for their half’s to put in the ball in the air for their outside backs to bash any of our players coming out to make meters.

In contrast, we hid little to no kick chase & our kicks weren’t good enough either except the great bomb from Adam for which we got penalized.

Lot of things to improve on for next week. Give Adam some rest if the need be.

I was completely disappointed in the lack of failed momentum gained before we started trying to throw the ball around. We have one of the biggest forward pack in the game and we're trying to go around them because we have some fast players in Wlash,Cobbo,Farnworth. You have to deserve the right to pass the ball and we didn't give ourselves that and we got run over in the end because we didn't get any momentum going and wear out their forwards. Also why the hell is Haas ball playing thats just ridiculous, I said I wanted him passing the ball more but not ball playing like a halfback. Haas just needs to offload the ball a few times a game when he has his arm free and has like 4 or 5 defenders on him. Leave the ball playing to only Carrigan which I love because he's like our Yeo from panthers. Definitely work on him speeding up his passing and that will offer another dimension to our attack. Walsh needs to back himself more and take a few more runs not just look for the pass. He blew a try when he tried a miracle pass to Cobbo when he only needed to put the ball down. Think run 1st and see your options if nothing is there on 1st view. Walsh is one of the fastest in the game and he can beat them slow defending centres, like Croker for example.

I saw the game alot differently. The raiders Intensity at the start was amazing. They played exactly how they needed to to match a better side. We started slow but our second half was actually pretty decent and we were right I the arm wrestle for the full 40 minutes. That last 20 was some good football when the boys learned that they had to enter the grind. Jordan rikki is quickly becoming my favorite player, so strong in defence and actually starting to bend the line in attack. Palasia had a great game too after getting more minutes. Some of his carries were great and he was pretty solid in defence. I think capewell was a bit off after that HIA. He probably wasn't thinking properly. Most of the damage was done while he was off the field. Flegler isn't a backorder and really can't be asked to defend there after playing 15 minutes in the middle. We as a team are still learning that at times we need to win ugly and get into the dogfight. We did that in the second half but it was too late by then. Congrats to the raiders, what a performance from a team of pure grubs.

Credit to the Raiders, they just wanted it more.

Not too fussed tbh. This loss had been coming for a couple of weeks, we've gotten progressively worse during that time. I'm glad we didn't pull it out of the fire there at the end, or a lot of the issues already highlighted in this thread would/may have been glossed over. That call on the accidental knee though, deadset.
