POST GAME POST GAME [Round 6, 2023] Broncos vs Raiders

Carrigan is garbage?

Excuse Me What GIF by Bounce

Not quite . but not 2022 vintage either .
Sticky has been whining about players being fatigued by the world cup . Patty is an example of that IMO . Been saying the past few weeks he`s down on form .

Too much link man early , not enough hard runs in behind the PTB .
Go through then around ...

Don’t have Kayo anymore so didn’t catch the game but bhq blowing up at the ref after a loss is pretty par for the course. Are you guys sure we didn’t lose fair and square for once?

When Tapau got put on report, they got a penalty and we had a try taken off us?

Is that the rub of the green to you?

Interesting.

Simple fact is, from the forward pass that gave Canberra their first try onwards, they got the game handed to them on a plate.

We played like absolute arse, from Reynolds down, but we still had the game taken from us by a bloody ref decision that went against us minutes after a similar incident incurred no such penalty.

The NRL got the decision they wanted pure and simple.

Didn`t deserve to win .
Got bullied , then tried to many trick shots . Wanted to go around and not through . Lessons to be learned or its back to the end of last year again.

Not similar at all .
One the guy who got KO`d was the tackler . The other the guy who got his head split open was the ball carrier . Kneeing a guy in the head who is on the ground is very different to catching a swinging arm in the head from a ball runner .

Can you honestly say Kris was reckless or careless ? Ball runners can do what he did multiple times and never a word if no one is injured .
Marty charged at Rapana on the ground and kneed him in the head . Always gonna be a penalty IMO . Reckless and careless .

....we didn't work hard enough for it. We were out enthused from the get go.....

Hail mary passes can't win you games if you haven't earnt the right first.

ARey is off.

Is Kobe a good replacement for Capewell.....

This game is why I'm in the kevs not a good coach box.
He hasn't fixed the obvious problem of low percentage plays especially inside 30 .
We aren't running the block plays well at all Walsh has made some look good with pure speed but when was the last time we stripped numbers for a winger to score untouched.
Riki and Capewell can't play every minute of every game , what's his plan there?
Areys kicking is off and has been since late last year.
Time to give Walsh a crack maybe.
Carrigan needs to stop being a ball player as much and get back to making ground up the middle and especially off the back of Haas.
When Hass bends the line and gets a play the balll away we shoukd be going down the middle more but we go wide straight away too often.

There are time lately when I wonder WTF Captn Coach Reynolds is saying to his team mates .
Yeah boys lets chuck the ball around till we give it away . If that don`t work I`ll put in a shit kick that doesn`t make it to the in goal .And you boys on the kick chase team , take it easy . All good .

It's probably all been covered by now, but my thoughts on the match:

I'm not stoked we lost, but in a way, I am a little glad... the hype was getting a bit much, and no matter how hard they try not, I'm sure there's some young blokes in our team letting it to get their head

The Raiders deserved to win. They weren't outlandishly better than us or anything, but right from the off you could see the intensity they brought, and they didn't let up for most of the match. They are an ugly, dirty team though.

Five wins on the trot has papered over some of the cracks, which were a little more exposed last night. We've all mentioned it - forcing the play and not respecting possession. We don't need to try and score off every play, some of these blokes need to understand that. Build pressure and it will come.

I'm not a big fan of a forward passing it to another forward just to take a hit-up, with almost no momentum built-up. I'm sure there's a reason we're doing this, but it just seems to me like more of a risk of a dropped ball, with no real improved gain. Yes, Patty is passing more this year, but it's getting a bit much - pick and choose when to pass, otherwise you lose that element of unpredictability.

Every try we let in last night was a throwback to the last few seasons. Some absolutely ghastly defence. That try Rapana scored from dummy-half just isn't acceptable at this level of footy. That was pathetic. The focus was really lacking in defence last night, which we saw in our woeful kick-chase too.

To win premierships you have to be good enough to take poor refereeing out of the equation. We just weren’t good enough on the night. Being at the game it looked like we started with the attitude of, ‘we just need to turn up to win tonight.’ It looked like all the things we had been doing to win the previous 5 went out the window. No working it through the middle, we just didn’t want to do the tough stuff, just wanted to turn up and score some tries.
It is the wake up call we needed. We weren’t perfect in our 5-0 run and hopefully this sharpens our focus, because we have a tough schedule coming up.

We deserved the loss tonight ... but Atkins certainly earned his second pay cheque tonight.

He allowed the Raiders to get away with Murder ... especially in the last 15.

I was at the game so didn’t (and wont) see the coverage ... although I did speak to my brother who said of the Fox commentators, Parker was the only one who thought that disgraceful call at the end was a penalty
Even my Bronco hating Raider supporter mate at work today thought it was an utter farce and said Parker needed to stop sniffing paint.

Pat's getting in the way of our attack .....he's trying too hard.
Get back to basics.
Run hard and straight...

Pat wasnt close to his best ( still say nobody apart from Cobbo was ) but I'm not convinced its all down to the player. He's not doing a great deal different to what he's been doing for the last 12 months. Last night it didnt work, our plays were clunky and his timing was off a bit. He wasnt the only one, but when that happens you have to get the message out there to just stop the fancy stuff and run straight and hard.

Our gameplan is to obviously this year to get more offloads and more ball playing from our forwards. ITs not going to work sometimes so we need a plan B. Last night we tried to force the plan A to work and it backfired.

Is it bad to wish bad luck on Corey Parker.

Nothing too serious, just mcl and acl in both legs & torn pectoral muscle in both arms & laryngitis.

I have never disliked a former player, like I do with Parker.
yep he is a bit of a shithead and a sook, good player but
