You dont win games when you probably have a good 14 or 15 players off it. Its another one of those games where they didnt play poorly, just ordinary but this time around we didnt have 2 or 3 players step up for 10-15 min spells to turn things around.

We deserved the loss tonight ... but Atkins certainly earned his second pay cheque tonight.

He allowed the Raiders to get away with Murder ... especially in the last 15.

I was at the game so didn’t (and wont) see the coverage ... although I did speak to my brother who said of the Fox commentators, Parker was the only one who thought that disgraceful call at the end was a penalty

Our tackling needs to improve a whole lot. Why we end up tackling just the upper body of the opponents and don’t wrap their legs which enables them to pick up cheap meters which results in offloads is something I can’t get.

Why don’t we go in with 3 blokes to tackle? Given our last season free fall n defense, one would expect this is the 1st thing that should’ve been addressed.
They look scared to land on the legs.

Shit. I guess they did ambush us...

Just really disappointed in the level of footy we played tonight. There were signs in earlier games as our completion rates have been subpar. All that talk about this squad emulating the '98 squad has gotten to their heads. Walsh's brain-dead moment was the turning point. He should have scored and then they score afterwards.

Back to some simple footy please. Hard and straight up the middle.

Edit: how the Panthers played tonight is how I expected the Broncos to play. Huge difference in execution.

I think you answered your own question there. I don't think the plan was for Patty to play 80. Fleggs going down early and Palasia being at best serviceable pushed the point.

And Patty garbage, yeah righto.... on the gear tonight? He had an off game, I'd still take him as a top 5 forward of the game.
What I meant was, by gassing up, no one player can perform to their peak potential when needed. Even though Patty is almighty, he could’ve done better in the middle.

Parker wasn't the only one. If Roach didn't have a couple of wads on Canberra head to head, I'll eat my chair.

I thought a few of our players - Farworth and Arthars, for example - had off games, but I don't think any deserve dropping. We also dudded a couple of opportunities. Kotoni's flick pass to Selwyn that didn't come off, would've been a try 4 times out 5. Walsh should've scored instead of pushing the pass.

Losing Flegler next week gives us the opportunity to elevate a rookie, and also have a preview of next season.

Canberra looked like they wanted it more, and our attack lacks finesse. That's about it.

This game is why I'm in the kevs not a good coach box.
He hasn't fixed the obvious problem of low percentage plays especially inside 30 .
We aren't running the block plays well at all Walsh has made some look good with pure speed but when was the last time we stripped numbers for a winger to score untouched.
Riki and Capewell can't play every minute of every game , what's his plan there?
Areys kicking is off and has been since late last year.
Time to give Walsh a crack maybe.
Carrigan needs to stop being a ball player as much and get back to making ground up the middle and especially off the back of Haas.
When Hass bends the line and gets a play the balll away we shoukd be going down the middle more but we go wide straight away too often.

You forgot Arey getting hit high by Hudson Young and they don't look at it then Ezra does a great ball and all tackle on Whitehead who stays down and gets a penalty.

Thought this would be the worst call of the game lol.

Was it this that Reyno was arguing with the ref about after the Marty penalty, or was it the 'unnoticed' late shove in the back he copped after kicking from Guler? I guess as Ginnane said in the call, "if you can get away with it, there's nothing wrong with it" 🙄

Thought Cobbo went well tonight, really liked the intensity with some of his runs. Nice to see a look of concentration and intent to mow Kris down en-route to his try, rather than his usual goofy grin.

Not sure what else to say, we were obviously ordinary for most of that and probably left our run too late but to be so willfully deprived of a shake at stealing it is actually really kinda confusing lol. So I'm going to bed confused.

Shit calls, but we were horrible. No composure or attempt to build pressure. Every attacking play was to go for points, not play the long game, and when we didn't get the points it just compounded the pressure on ourselves.

Mam was taking the hits in the same way Reynolds fakes to kick. Hoping that the defence would sweat on him and, at the next opportunity, it would give space outside him and give Herbie & Arthars opportunities. But to the Raiders' credit, they didn't flinch and they kept making the correct decision.

Walsh had his worst game by far. He was the epitome of my first sentence - wanted to score on every set, pushed passes, gave Cobbo some horrible ball.

Walters will sit them all down, give them a collective "WTF guys", and hopefully the trainers flog the living shit out of them.
