POST GAME POST GAME [Round 8, 2023] Broncos vs Eels

I can totally see Mam and Haas copping it at the MRC just because the NRL in their "game management" mindset would be looking at us pulling away from the rest of the comp and will want to drag us back into the field. It is a farce how they operate this comp.

It’s what happens when you’ve had smoke blown up your arse for the last decade. She doesn’t know shit about the game - just sit there and be the host, we don’t need more cooked opinions
Vonny just looks for headlines now. Always repeating coaches comments and looking for controversy. She really isn't adding anything to the post match discussion.

If Payne gets sent to the judiciary, it just says that injuries matter when they decide who gets suspended because both of his feet are literally on the ground, RCG does the splits through no fault of Payne's and that's why he lands on his leg.

Ennis was right, if Payne fights the charge he will probably win. Both of his feet are on the ground.

I’ve never heard two dyed in the wool NSWelshman talk so much sense and support the Broncos for so long ever. Vonnie is the one arguing with them.

The golden goose is being attacked.

They and lounge room fans alike have no idea how to interpret this rule and it’s having such a big effect on the game.

Vonny thinks you can get some sort of "black and white" rule regarding hip drops...I mean are you fucking kidding me? Tackles are spontaneous and unpredictable by their very nature. Don't be a reactionary moron just because you have a camera on you.
You can. Two motions where one or more players hold up an attacking player and a defensive player falls onto the legs.

Literally anything else is just momentum

We need be be prepared to be without Haas for a month ... the media have gone into overdrive on the Haas tackle. and we all know the NRL base their decisions on the media's coverage

I would be fighting it if I were the club. What is the worst that could happen? He gets suspended for 5 weeks and completely misses preparation for Origin 1? Pfff like **** the NSWRL would let that slide.

I think Mam is gone, Haas might be lucky because he wasn't dragging he just slipped on his tackle.
Realistically Mam should be a grade 1... what's he meant to do and the contact on the legs was pretty minimal. Not sure if Grade 1 is 1 week or fine, but Hopgood's was consistent with Grade 2 and Ezra's wasn't as bad as his

Haas for me is an unfortunate accident and no charge... RCG was already on the ground and Haas ends up on his legs... zero intent and body weight didn't bring him down. Also it's RCG's left groin that is injured, but Haas landed on his right leg, so it was an accident and RCG ended up in a splits position.

Go the Penalties
1111111

Mam will get 1 week, Payne will be cleared.

I hope you're right but they sort of have to suspend Payne or at least make him earn the right to not be suspended, old mate could barely sit down.

Agreed.
No way will we escape this without losing someone, and i reckon it will be Maam who cops it, even though it was 100% accidental, with no injury and a mild version of a hip drop at worst.

No they don't. The injury was an accident that can happen. It sucks, but it was wet and he did the splits in the tackle which has fucked his groin.

And he has a nasty history of groin injuries, but of course that won't be brought up by any talking heads.

Played almost the perfect half of footy, I dunno where it’s been all year but I hope they keep it up.

Reynolds was brilliant.

Oates was very impressive and showed what we have missed the last few weeks with his tough carries.

The nrl don’t have a clue what they are doing with this hip drop nonsense. Not a clue!

Good enough performance to suggest we will pick up a fair few wins in the next month. More so the mindset at certain points in that second half was more disappointing than the performance itself. First half was amazing second half underwhelming but not horrid.
Yep first half was ruthless and clinical football.. that's what the coach is asking for and wants to see... second half the players got a bit carried away.

At least Kevvie can now point to that first half and say ... when we play Broncos football we completed at 90%, had 60% possession and put on 4 tries... we were fucking cruising. When player's decided to take it into their own hands we lost our way and let the eels get back into it.

Do you want to work your asses off, complete at a high percentage and win games or do you want to take shortcuts and try to jag wins

Haas lands to the side of him if RCG doesn’t make a second effort and crawl AFTER Haas has already initiated the tackle. There is nothing Haas could do differently, he cannot preempt RCG moving his leg underneath him. It’s an accident that happens in contact sport, something the nrl don’t seem to be able to comprehend.

none of them were hip drops.
