POST GAME POST GAME [Round 8, 2023] Broncos vs Eels

Excellent game from the broncos. I was really impressed with their start and whilst they lost their second half on the board i was stilly fairly happy considering they were down a man.
If they cite haas what will players do on the line. I would just line up a giant close to the line and rack up tries/10 minute bins as players are dragged behind them regardless if they keep their feet or not.
As i said in the game chat, whilst i have been critical cobbo and his concentration in games, he was spot on tonight and being outjumped for that try was just one of those things he will learn from.
Staggs was particularly impressive in defence.
NAS is already looking to dive at all times (JWH getting binned last year)... he would be the prime target for that tactic... and Bellamy and storm would be the prime team to identify and implement it... expect to see it on Tuesday I guess

Yeah look, most decent defensive teams will push up and in. If you want him to stay on his wing just to rack up the numbers on his opposite, he's probably not listening to the coaching staff.
But when Isaako did it, it was bad. Because it is the wrong thing to do.

Cobbo stopped one try, but there's been numerous where he hasn't stopped the try just this season. You want him to trust his inside man and not give his winger a free run to the try line. He's been very lucky numerous times that Staggs has covered for him.

And nearly let in how many? One good thing does not negate the other negatives. That's all I am saying. It's an 80 minute game

You have to follow your centre in and that's what he does, not sure what else he is meant to do.

The key part is also that he didn't let any in.

They have to work together, you've obviously got something against the guy, he will never be perfect. Nobody will be. He's been pretty good though.

Cobbo so rocks and diamonds. Really good hard carries, but did not have a good night in the air.

She's paid to keep the conversation going so will lob out random scenarios. Gloss over it!
Except they had already answered it like 10 times.

I'm guessing it was a producer in her ear, but if it wasn't and she was coming up with cooked takes to create some headline tomorrow then she's at fault.

Fox already had Brandy and Ennis on record, as well as both coaches in regards to the hip drops so what more was there to talk about... Fox had enough quotes for tomorrow's article. You could tell that Brandy was sick of trying to explain his position on it, because he was confusing himself, and then Ennis had to praise the broncos to change the conversation.

Nah, I have knowledge that he's given up on his team mates numerous times, the same knowledge everyone else has because he stated it out loud. But I'm also looking at all of the things he has done and not just the flashes of brilliance that won't last forever, because I'm also aware of his lack of drive.

I'm worried about his future, and claiming I don't like him is just an attempt to negate anything I'm saying about him, same with the eye rolls. If he's off limits and we can't point out his negatives then so be it, I'll stop. But it's dishonest to claim that he only did one thing wrong and to defend him coming off his wing so often, when nobody held the same belief for Isaako.

If Cobbo and Staggs are communicating that Staggs is going to cover I'm fine with it on most occasions but he needs more of a success rate with the intercept if he wants to keep doing it.
If there's no communication he needs to stay on his man

Just enjoy a win man and let other fans do the same.

I hope you're right but they sort of have to suspend Payne or at least make him earn the right to not be suspended, old mate could barely sit down.
So should old mate that injured Kiraz last week also be facing suspension??

He landed on the side of his leg causing the MCL injury... and now Kiraz is out for 3-6 weeks

The jamming in is new and clearly something that was coached as they wanted to target Lane and he did the job perfectly.

His carries out of our end were very effective, error free and super gutsy runs into big forwards. That was first class.

His fend on Hodgson was wonderful. Sivo getting one over him on that kick wasn't great though.

I don't think it was his best game - but he didn't do anything to warrant any real criticism. He made tough carries, broke 6 tackles, rocked Shaun Lane twice and did a very solid job.

The jamming in is new? Absolutely not.

I wouldn't have had to criticize him tonight if people weren't wrongfully claiming that he only did one thing wrong.

Bullshit! You're thinking of Staggs.

I have a problem with you stating him coming in off his wing isn't the right way to defend. If Staggs charges up on their second rower and Cobbo marks the winger, who's tackling their centre? He will absolutely be reacting to Staggs and it's the right way to defend. The fact he barely had to make a tackle on his opposite number is a pretty good indication they are defending the right way.

I'm not trying to negate anything you are saying but you have been carrying on for a few weeks now, he's far from the worst player in our team, in fact.. he will play Origin more than likely. So is this really about Selwyn Cobbo or is this about you having a personal problem with Selwyn Cobbo? If it's the latter, we're all wasting our time. Nothing he does on a footy field will change your mind.

He's carrying on with his deluded agenda and refuses to accept he's utterly full of it because admitting he was completely wrong would dent his ego.

But he isn't just coming off his wing to when there's an overlap. It's not the right way to defend because he's just going for that intercept so often.

He's not the worst player in the team and I've copped it for pointing out someone involved in the club and Dean Widders have both spoken about his attitude and where it might land him. It's that there's flaws in his game that he didn't think were issues last year, so he called out his coach on a fucking podcast because he's dumb.

There's a few people that just don't want to hear anything negative about him for some reason, where just pointing out those faults turns someone into a villain. It's crap. I've said it a million times, I hope he pulls his head in and shows improvement on the areas he needs it, but from what I have heard FROM THOSE IN THE KNOW, I am worried he won't. The rest of you can go along blindly, I don't need to tell you what I hear anymore. Just wait for Smokin' Joe to never respond instead.
