POST MORTEM. Cowboys Broncs Grand Final.

Wow, that made my 11 year old daughter cry. Almost made me cry too. It just wasn't Hunt's night. Bummer for Hodgo. That said, they gave us a hell of a year didn't they.

well i have not posted in a while so will leave this as my last until next year. Im devo for hodges but i believe he will be fine as part of him will be happy for JT and Scott. Also all the boys should feel good about their performances this year. To turn themselves around and reinvent their ball game has been spectacular. I am proud to be a Bronco man. I think many fans are great full to have a contender to chear for again. Next year is looking up. they will be better for this. congrats to the cowboys and thanks to both teams for playing some of the best rugby league we have seen in a long long time

This will be my thoughts in about a week or twos time. Right now I'm going through the stages of grieving. I've progressed past anger already. But not quite at the next stage. I'm in post-devastation limbo. Maybe heading towards depression. If that's not the correct order, **** off, I can grieve how I want.

I can't believe it still. We had it won. The cows had given up and then somehow we choke.

Agreed, he got his hands on the ball a LOT, and made some huge plays with the strips, his last run to get us out of trouble, etc. He probably tried a bit too hard instead of picking his involvements more carefully, but honestly sometimes there was no-one else to take the hitup. It was a bit disappointing after playing with so much energy against the Rorters last week, half the team seemed to go missing tonight at times.

Ugh. Terrible taste in my mouth and it's not the goddamn rum..

I thought the same. I thought I saw Milf looking around a lot during the game after getting the ball and tackled with no one running close. He looked like he was saying WTF? Where is everybody? What happened to the game plan?

So totally this. lol. Just feeling fucking UGH.

@Big Pete @Nashy @ningnangnong

Are you still there guys? So sorry you witnessed that live but BHQ is glad you were there in support though. We got it next year right?

yeah right, we got this? we got shit .... just ask the fucking referees 'who we got' - they determine everything .. better team in the GF for 79 minutes - doesn't mean jack shit nowadays because a grandstand finish is the most vital and important thing in the "the business" that is the NRL circa 2015 .. its a league of assholes that I can't be fucked investing in anymore

It's just so hard to believe the Broncos are chokers in a gf. Blair and Parker are unreal though.

I am absolutely gutted with that finish, but I think its ridiculous to heap all blame on Hunt. Without Hunt we wouldn't even be remotely close to challenging for a premiership. This will make Hunt a better player.

I feel, as good as our halves have been this season, they were still missing big game experience, and through the fact we definitely exceeded expectations in this season it meant that they were thrust into the deep end, and they didn't cope as well as they would have liked.

I believe Hunt and Milford are still serving an "apprenticeship" into becoming a complete halves pairing, and by making the finals this season it sort of fast tracked their "education". Part of that is due to Hunt being wasted for so long, and that the Hunt/Milford partnership is relatively new.

As gut wrenching as this loss is, this season was not our time, and this will make us better as a team. It will be a great learning experience for our halves. I have no doubt we will bounce back and we are not far off to winning the premiership.

These sort of moments shape a a player into a champion, and from what I've seen of Hunt, he will bounce back hungrier, he will dominate this competition, and he will lead this same group of players to a premiership.

Chin up boys!

Weed is keeping my ship stable, but I have absolutely zero motivation to do anything but sit here and stew.

I'll admit it's hard not to be angry at Hunt, especially for the lift. That was just stupid.

To be honest, I don't feel much of anything right now, except empty.

It's the losses that make the wins feel so good. We've never had a loss like this, and in a way we've been pretty blessed, but by god the next grand final we win is going to feel good.

We lost because we didn't try And take it simple as that. What I don't get is that you try and run the clock down then with 20secs left your on the rack and you don't hold down and give a penalty . That would have run the clock out and given them one play against set D

Cricket season is gonna be soooo long and painful. Fmd

It might be a weird recommendation, but if you're like me and hate Cricket, give the NBL a crack. When the League is off, it is pretty decent to watch and can have some cracking moments.

I put this loss down to a few tactical errors and issues with the gameplan that the coaching staff came up with more than anything else. We went away from the attacking mentality that worked for us throughout the season. You could see we played negative, conservative football right from the onset when we went for goal 41 metres out.

That was a real attacking opportunity to put pressure on the opposition and with the attacking weapons we have, as well as the Cowboys at times fragile defence, we could of really threatened them and set the tone for the rest of the match. From there on, we never quite put pressure on the Cowboys defence, and we never really got into any attacking field position to threaten the Cowboys.

All our tries were off, long range, lucky plays, rather than through our creative attack we played throughout the season.

The conservative football took Hunt out of the game completely, as it meant we never got into a position for him to shine, and it meant we didn't play to our strengths and basically nullified our most dangerous player... No wonder he had a quite game compared to his standards.

Then once again more negative football when we started defending our lead with 30 mins to go. Everyone knows as soon as you defend your lead, your mentality changes and your basically inviting the opposition back in the game. Instead we should of went on with the job trying to put the Cowboys to the sword. I was baffled at how we didn't even try to score after the 50 minute mark. It's almost like we shut up shop, almost waiting for the Cowboys to snatch it at the death.

A four point lead is not one you defend with 50 mins to go...

Facebook is blowing up with 'BEST GAME EVER' posts. I don't think a single player on the field tonight played anywhere near their best. Hunt and Morgan were both terrible, and it was always going to come down to who had the worst game from those two. Unfortunately it was Hunt. I still feel that last set should never have happened, but we were asking for it with the negative footy we played for the final 70 minutes.

The Clive Churchill medal was a laugh. But JT could have farted and it would have been compared to Beethoven.

I agree with you except for the Oates try. To me, that was a great piece of play: the Blair classic offload, Milford in support, backs in support, good ball movement.

Then, for the most part, it seemed to stop.
