If we're ever, EVER going to beat them, surely it has to happen this Thursday. Our squad is in far better form, probably a better team overall over the 1 to 17....Literally the only things going against us are AAMI Park and the inevitable knob polishing they will get from the refs as a result, but as if that's any different to any other day we play.
Storm are 5th worst for penalties in the comp (4th worst on average) and we're 5th best (3rd best on average)... no doubt that will be reversed on Thursday and we'll look like the most ill disciplined team in the comp.

I have some confidence this week because last week we dominated the manly forward pack. I have no reason to think this week won't be the same our forward pack is just so much better then theirs.

With that pedantic ginger nut ref it’s going to be another stop start game full of big momentum shifts.

The last time Todd Smith reffed us, we won 46: 23 over the Titans. I'm not sure we can complain we were hard done by:

Wasnt our last victory against the Storm the game where Milford threw the ball at Cam Smith while he was laying on the ground to get a penalty?
Not long later, they brought in a rule to stop it. Because it went against one of the favoured children. Even though it had been an issue for months at that point.

I’d have more confidence in nabbing a win if Oates was on the wing for us. He draws that extra effort from the defence when he’s punching it back on kick returns.
Be even better to win without him, knowing we still have another gear to shift up. Farnworth potentially being out's another one. Would love Mariner to come in and have a blinder.

me to but no Oates or Farnworth... Our poor meters out of yardage :(

Last year we had this side.

1. Martin
2. Oates
3. Staggs
4. Lee
5. Cobbo
6. Mam
7. Roberts
8. Jensen
9. Walters
10. Haas
11. Capewell
12. Riki
13. Carrigan

14. Turpin
15. Hetherington
16. Flegler
17. Palasia

Missing Herbie, Reyno and Paix, we jumped out to a 16-6 lead but couldn't put them away nor hold them out. Hopefully this year with the addition of Walsh, Reyno, Herbie and our defence & attack being better, we can go one better.

I just hate taking on Melbourne because every year when the draw comes out, they circle the games against us. Smith mentioned in the Matty Johns Podcast a couple of years back that Storm have that extra motivation when they play us, they want to put us to the sword especially the players we looked over all those years back.
