Former Broncos Darius Boyd and Matt Gillett have returned to Red Hill as mentors for the Brisbane playing group.

The recent NRL retirees have agreed to head down to Broncos training one day a week during the pre-season to assist coach Kevin Walters ahead of the 2021 season.

Boyd – the former club captain and fullback – was spotted helping out the backs during the second day of pre-season training on Tuesday, while Gillett was involved with the forwards.

I think one of Paix or Turpin miss out and Macca starts with a similar rotation to how Friend and Grant were used in Game 3.

Surely not. Getting them involved is a terrible idea.

We need to get more winners around the place. Sure Boyd won some comps but he was carried his entire career and the few times he wasn't in an insanely strong team, he struggled severely.

Tell him to **** right off and never come back.

'Pea-hearted' is almost certainly going too far for Boyd given what he did achieve during his career, but there were absolutely times in his later seasons where he simply and clearly did not put his body on the line or attempt to do things that perhaps a younger and more committed player may have done.
