Prince Discussion

Re: It's time to go...

Oh yeah, this current combo of Prince/Wallace is working so much better, what with one of them getting hooked at a crucial part of the game.

I did not say those performances were better, what I did say was that Hunt's inclusion in the starting side coincided with our better offensive performances of 2012 and he showed plenty of good signs moving forward.

Regardless, it's just your opinion.

Re: It's time to go...

without getting my knickers in a knot like some of the folk here, i do think its time for prince to be left out of the side.

would love hunt to get a full 80 minutes, and would love to see what he can do with norman staying in the 1. they've shown potential together before. wallace has been pretty decent in my opinion and i think the 3 could work well together.

still a little worried over maccas speed around the ruck, but hey.

Hunt got hooked against the Raiders last year IIRC. Regardless of that, a big part of why Prince was 'hooked' tonight was his injury. He should've gone off earlier in hindsight, he was in all sorts after the event. The late hit as he kicked seemed to knock him about as well.

Btw, our better offensive performances of 2012? That's like finding the better performances of the Australian Labor Party in Government.

Re: It's time to go...

I'm just saying Prince isn't doing much better if we're basing our judgements on what the coach is making of the performance.

Regardless, I thought with Hunt in the halves last season we played with a lot of shape, a similar shape we're seeing now but there was more consistent timing from Hunt.

Yeah ...I dunno. I think some of those games you're talking about with Hunt last year were down to his own creativity / good game. I honestly don't remember the back line clicking like is atm since Lockyer.

Re: It's time to go...

We looked really good with Hunt in his last 2 games in the halves last year. And it was against the 2 best sides. And more than half of our side was playing injured.

There is no point to Prince. He's not the future. He's just going to get worse as he nears retirement. Meanwhile our youngest remaining half still doesn't get a proper shot and will probably just leave and we'll be left with 2 nuffies and no cover.

I still put most of our 2012 issues down to an uninspired forward pack and a fullback who wasn't a fullback.

There has been a massive difference this year just in the forwards aiming up and a ball playing fullback. Our halves took all the heat last year and I think it was quite undeserved

No doubt in the world about that. The forwards are laying our platform and these last 3 games especially, our halves and fullback are creating some good opportunities for our outside men and they are taking advantage. We are working as a unit at the moment and I can't see any reason to change any combinations.

I dunno which forwards you were watching last year. They were the reason we won all those games at the start. Once most of them started playing injured, we stopped dominating the opposition through the middle and our halves were severely exposed.

Re: It's time to go...

I notice a trend with Big Pete.
Everytime we win he'd look for the negatives.
However.. when we lose he talks up the positives just to be different to everyone else.
If we lost tonight this thread wouldn't even have been started by Big Pete.

He was obviously talking about the second half of last season, but in your anxiety to bag the halves, you don't even realise you're confirming his point... :001_rolleyes:

Unbelievable how BHQ needs to have a scapegoat, regardless of how the team performs. This "bashaton" on Prince is absolutely ridiculous, not to call it disgraceful. I tremble at the thought if it was Wallace!

Did anyone notice that the Cowboys came here with a clear plan to send as much traffic as possible in Scott Prince's direction, and that he had to make 28 tackles, of which he actually only missed 4? Did anyone notice how he was unsteady on his legs well before he was taken off, and as Jeba said, should've been taken off immediately after the first hit? (no, he wasn't hooked BP, that's just you trying to push an agenda)
That plan worked pretty well because you can't afford to protect a halve too much when the opposition has arguably the 2 best props in the NRL, and Prince saw himself often one on one with guys almost twice his size, in particular that wrecking ball called Tariq Sims. He did pretty well for mine under the circumstances!

The team is showing progression, is creating good attacking structures and combinations, getting good ball to the edges, showing increased potential every week, but yeah, let's change the halves anyway. Why? Well... It wouldn't be BHQ otherwise, would it? :glare:

Hard to understand posters finding lots wrong with the boys atm. Brilliant defence, winning form, great attitude, happy players and a team blend of youth and experience. At the pub tonight I sat down and my beloved broncs were bashing the cowpunchers ....I just couldn't find anything wrong with that ! Here in Perth it was a perfect night for this Bronco fan......

Re: It's time to go...

I've given Wallace credit when credit is due.......that's a lot more than I can say about others here when it comes to Prince and/or Norman.

What a load of crap, I've seen more who have criticised Norman, even those who don't want him at the club give him credit as well then I have ever seen you give Wallace credit.

Re: It's time to go...

Prince is 33 and is a liability in defence. He has been ok and that is being nice to him. He pulls 1 maybe 2 good plays a game but then he will drop the ball cold in other instances. He needs to get better and more consistent to hold his spot.

TBH I don't think many people are finding much wrong with how we are travelling since the Storm game(compare it to previous to that game, I think there was a hell of lot more negatives being drawn), if anything its probably the best shape we have been in for ages from a team perspective as a whole(individually thats another issue), doesn't mean we don't have issues from an individual basis, other players cop it, but it seems Prince is to be above it for some.

Wipe away your tears .......I have been praising ole Pete the last few weeks. I've said I think he'll make a great dummy half / interchange player.
