QLD Squad 2020

Also, how the **** is keary actually going through with playing for nsw?

I dont get that either. Horrible little turncoat he is. How can you campaign so hard to play for QLD, request a personal meeting with the NRL to say you dont want to play for nsw and want to play for QLD, then turn out for those filthy grubs. He needs to be smashed into the ground.

He absolutely should get smashed, but I reckon I'd do the same if I was in his position. I'd prefer to test myself in Origin and play at the highest level of the game than never play Origin at all. It's not like what it used to be back in the 80s/90s anyway, it's more and more commercialised.

At 30k for one night’s work I’d become a turncoat.

Anyone want to have a guess at what changes we might expect for Queensland for Game 2?

The only player who really didn't have a good night was probably Hess, so his demotion would be interesting depending on how it played out.

I think Holmes would be very likely to return, perhaps at Centre pushing Capewell to the Back Row or Bench to replace Hess if Su'a gets a starting spot. Either that or pushing one of the Wingers out of the side which is probably a little unlucky for them but Holmes is a big touch of class and attacking threat and he'll be very hard to leave out.

I had Corey Allan making my Game 1 team before he was suspended, probably on the Wing, but I think with the form of the two Wingers from Game 1 and the need to find Holmes a spot that Allan will probably miss out on selection now.

Let's say everyone got through that game last night, I'd suggest we're looking at something like:

1. Brimson
2. Holmes
3. Gagai
4. Capewell
5. Coates
6. Munster
7. Cherry-Evans
8. Welch
9. Friend
10. Papalii
11. Kaufusi
12. Su'A
13. Tino the Great

14. Hunt
15. Collins
16. Arrow
17. Carrigan

If it ain't broke don't fix it. But then, do you not play Holmes? Does Bennett trust Hess to come good?

Certainly an argument to give them all another go but the two questions really are, do you leave out a genuine weapon like Holmes? And do you give Hess another shot aside from looking out of his depth at this level for a few years now?

Agree. I'd prefer to see Capewell in the back row (for Hess) with Kaufusi, and Holmes in the centres. I just worry about Capewell's lateral movement in defence and I have this thing about playing people out of position, as NSW discovered with Queen Gutho. I reckon they will bring in Crichton or Lomax for him and that makes me worry even more about Capewell's defence out wide, especially with a suss groin, and even more with Walker's plays out wide.

Hess has to go because Holmes is too good to leave out and Capewell was just about Queensland's best player.

I think we may also see a rotation of a Middle Forward or two for the sake of keeping everyone fresh in what will be a pretty gruelling series.

How does bringing in new players even worm with the bubble? Are they all on standby somewhere?

Is Holmes sitting around on the off chance he gets picked?

I completely agree with these changes.

Carrigan offers far more than Hess and Sami wasn’t bad but did look a little shakey, didn’t do enough to keep Holmes out

Swap Hess for Mo. Unless Carrigan starts I don't think he should be in the side, not enough impact in attack but would be useful as a workhorse.

Is Capewell fit for next week? Have to bring in Holmes on the wing but at the expense of Sami, who didn't really do anything wrong but IMO you have to choose Holmes.
