POST GAME Qualifying Final - Broncos vs Cowboys

Re: Post - Game - Qualifying Final - Cowboys

Fantastic result. The week off will do us good.

Hunt really needs to work on his game management and overall kicking. 3 or 4 times he failed to find touch near the end and it could have cost us. He has so much right in his game but i fear his kicking will stop him becoming a truly elite halfback.

Pretty impressed with Wallace and Joe tonight. They both stood up well.

I watched Cronk and Maloney shank kicks last night and they are the best... Hunt will only get better. Hunt IMO is the most dangerous 7 in the game today.

Yep, Cronk did do that but thats very rare he does, its not unusual for Hunts kicking to be ineffective. Hunts kicking has never been anywhere near as good as the rest of his game. I'm not so sure he is going to get that much better tbh in regards to his game management. He isnt a kid anymore, he is 25.

Gould had a qld audience. Hes done this before but then bagged us the next week in print.

I do believe he does prefer this style of footy though. He says stuff during the Doggies and Sharks games. I think also the Storm.

He did K-Style but even so I think he was genuine about it in this instance. Watching the Bulldogs and Dragons elimination was absolutely painful, a dreadful boring game.

Re: Post - Game - Qualifying Final - Cowboys

Good chance of that. Roosters and Bulldogs will be torrid. I'd expect the Chooks to come out on top but hopefully it takes some wind out of their sails.

I'd back the Cowboys to win their next, but the Storm will be a stiff test for them. We ground them out in the end, and no one does that better than Melbourne.

I can't take Melbourne seriously without Billy ... and now Koroibete .... if they make the GF there really does need to be an investigation

Was impressed with offanhague tonight best game by far he really stood up part way through the second half put them on the back foot. I was watching the right side defence closely tonight whereas normally Gillett makes the desperate tackles it was hunt tonight he was directing the defence as well. Impressed with Reed as well.

Agreed, but Hunts kicking game is improving... It was absolutely terrible last season, and is better this year as his ability to close out a game. The effort Hunt puts in to his game week in week out is what leads me to think that he will improve and when he fixes up a couple of these things coupled with his running game it will be scarey good.

Gutsy performance from the Broncos. Execution was sloppy at times, but the real meat and potatos stuff that decides football games was on-point and I couldn't be happier.

At the start of the week, I didn't think the Broncos had it in them. I just thought they give the opposition too much of an invitation and I questioned whether certain players would handle the intensity of the finals. I never doubted they'd give it their best shot, but I just thought the Cowboys would find that something little extra.

I was reservedly confident in that tip and thought with the introduction of Granville in the second-half, the Cowboys would find the extra spark they needed.

...then Nikorima changed everything. When he came onto the field, he blind-sided the Cowboys and produced a play that was all too common in the NYC, except instead of finding his brother, he found the guy he had opposed so many times in the juniors and put him over in a try that will go down in history.

It changed the script entirely, and while it was touch and go in the dying stages, Brisbane continued to support one another in defence and kept the best playmaker in the game at bay.

As great as Kodi's play was, I think just about every player on the field came up with one big contribution to get the result.

It wasn't always pretty, and the Broncos struggled in certain areas but on the whole, it's difficult not to feel impressed.

It's a far cry from where they were at 12 months ago. Moreover, it's a far cry from where they were at 6 months ago. I'll never forget that evening. Getting off my sick bed, just for the pleasure of watching the Broncos get beaten by 30 points in some of the most humid conditions I've experienced...

It was the ultimate before picture of a team that was on the right path.

They're further along now and the great thing is that there's still plenty of room to go.

Stand up and applaud this team folks. Be proud of what you've got, because they're one of the best teams in the competition.

Yeah have to agree with you there Coreyh88, he's best game so far this season, I have to give credit to Kahu as well, thought he made some really good tackles tonight.

And a far cry from where they may be in 12 months time.

Watching the replay... I'm so pissed off that the Milford knock on that was clearly knocked back wasn't picked up!!! At the time I thought the call was borderline but f&@k that went back a meter!!!! And not even a commentator said anything!!! BS... Milf was gone had that not been called back

It was bloody obvious to everyone except for the four blokes with eyes painted on.

The Cowboys knew it was coming and had their players waiting on the sideline.

I have the notion that WB is banking on us getting rewarded in the next game with his rebranded ,wrestle free Broncos. I think that when the refs review the games midweek they will notice the speed of tonight's game and the spectacle of fast free running rugby league.

The Broncos might have conceded ground but they made up for it by not giving repeated extra sets through ruck penalties. They played the same way without Hunts help recently and were only narrowly beaten.

The Broncos beat a good side with the worlds best 5/8 and plenty of space to work in. Conditions were perfect for JT and the cows and they even gave him the platform to work from yet still it was not enough. Perhaps this clean skin type of approach might pay off, especially when we are being wrestled by experts like The Roosters or Melbourne

The body language of the Broncos players was extremely encouraging. Their huddles were so intensely passionate, especially when Milford scored, that it was obvious how much has changed for this side. They work so hard for each other in defence and attack and know exactly how much this win means to them.

Bennett's master plan is coming to fruition...
