NEWS Reece Walsh sells his soul to Warriors. No big deal.

I feel like he's at risk of getting to big for his boots. Just some of his antics and the way he goes about things says to me he knows he's thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Also i haven't really looked and only saw a quick replay of it but no discussion of him leading with the elbow to finish a tackle in thr first half? Again only saw a quick replay but looked like a dog shot that if a 100kg forward did everyone would be blowing up over.

FFS. Absolute and utter stupidity from Kev. I'm liking a lot of what Kev has done but this particular **** up is damn near unforgivable.

As if you'd hold back someone this good for Jamayne fucking Isaako of all people. I'd understand if he was a remotely good fullback but he's just not.

it's not a bad thing holding back a player, especially one that had never played a single game of reserve grade yet ...

this kid wasn't prepared to back himself. if he had been, it likely wouldn't have been long before he was in the NRL side.

the current position we find ourselves in, is because we have given in to far too many kids desires to be NRL stars immediately instead of earning their place ... even the GOAT was eased into first grade.

if he went to a club coached by the likes of Bennett or Bellamy, he is likely still learning his trade in the reserve grade comps

I don't actually disagree with the idea, most kids should earn their time but when you have a truly special talent, you just have to get them in. WB gave Khunt a start at 17.

I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty salty about losing him so I probably can't be too objective here. If we announce Hynes I'll stop whining about Walsh, then we can hopefully groom Cobbo to take the 1 while he's under contract and move Hynes to 6 as he gets a bit older/slower.

There should have been someone at the Broncos who was smart enough from watching these kids to tell that this one is going to be a gun straight away and maybe someone else was going to need time. It worked with Haas, someone obvious predicted that correct. That person doesn't seem to be at the club any longer though.

I get the vibe that he's a bit of a cockhead. Special talent but thinks pretty highly of himself.

It'd be hard not to, if the entire rugby league world was blowing smoke up your ass.
They’re only doing it to rub our nose in it. It could unravel him though, he’s a talent so from a qlder point of view I hope it doesn’t. His defence is fucking shocking though much like Coates but no one ever talks about that apart from us on this forum.

Assuming he elects to play for Qld... he does have Maori heritage afterall.

I think its a bit harsh to say we let him go when we didnt. We stood our ground on what we were willing to offer him and i think we put ourselves in a position where we had to do it because of all our other failed contracts. In all honesty, we probably made him a good offer for a player of his age and stage of development, he just got a better one.

I think it's BS... Kevvie would've told him he was playing ISC initially, but he would've been getting lined up to play first grade right about now... .in the same way that Cobbo is being lined up to play first grade right about now. I think 1910 indicated that Kevvie had told him the fullback spot was his next year.

He left for the fucking money so his words don't mean shit... in the same way that Fifita's words don't mean shit.

If the offers were the same and warriors are like we'll squeeze you into the team straight away whereas broncos are like we'll get you into the team around mid-year.... it doesn't really matter.

Whether he was playing first grade straight away or not doesn't matter, because the cheques are coming in for the next 3 years.

It's not like he's getting paid by the game.

Mark my words next contract Walsh signs will be back here at Brisbane. Let him learn his trade he can take over from Hynes in 3 years time. Let’s move on

He is an absolute turnstile and in our current state I doubt he would have done anything for us. If he fixes his defense he can be elite if not he will go the way of Dufty.

Which is probably why Kevvie wanted him to play a few games of ISC before debuting rather than having him do his apprenticeship against seasoned NRL players

And don’t forgot Xavier “I love this great club” Turncoates words mean dick

I read an article last night on FB with quotes from Walsh on why he left the Broncos.
There were the typical "I wanted to be a Bronco for life" and the "I grow up loving the Broncos" quotes from Walsh.
He also said that he and Kevvie did not agree on how he would come into first grade. From that I got the feeling that Kev wanted him to play Q cup for the next season or so and he wanted to jump straight into the NRL. Whilst I would normally back Kevvie here, he seems to be a bit of an exemption to this rule. He is NRL ready and is carving up seasoned players, and has done since his injection a few weeks ago.
I'm super disappointed that he is no longer at the club, and think we would be up at least a game or two had we had the balls to chuck him into the squad when the Warriors did.
I've got no actual idea of the $ he is on, but I dare say it would be anywhere from 300-450k (which noe looks like a bargain.)
To add salt to the wound, I think with the Broncos now locking down other "young guns" in Cobbo, Robati and Piakura, the club has likely spent similar figures, to appear to not make a similar mistake..
Our R&R should have identified that Walsh was something special, but again, they failed.
