NEWS Reece Walsh sells his soul to Warriors. No big deal.

I read an article last night on FB with quotes from Walsh on why he left the Broncos.
There were the typical "I wanted to be a Bronco for life" and the "I grow up loving the Broncos" quotes from Walsh.
He also said that he and Kevvie did not agree on how he would come into first grade. From that I got the feeling that Kev wanted him to play Q cup for the next season or so and he wanted to jump straight into the NRL. Whilst I would normally back Kevvie here, he seems to be a bit of an exemption to this rule. He is NRL ready and is carving up seasoned players, and has done since his injection a few weeks ago.
I'm super disappointed that he is no longer at the club, and think we would be up at least a game or two had we had the balls to chuck him into the squad when the Warriors did.
I've got no actual idea of the $ he is on, but I dare say it would be anywhere from 300-450k (which noe looks like a bargain.)
To add salt to the wound, I think with the Broncos now locking down other "young guns" in Cobbo, Robati and Piakura, the club has likely spent similar figures, to appear to not make a similar mistake..
Our R&R should have identified that Walsh was something special, but again, they failed.
His defence is atrocious and he does a lot of stupid shit. Even half a season in qcup would have helped a lot, potentially we won’t see the ultimate cost of that until the hype has died down but there is nothing wrong with trying to develop a player properly.

He’s gonna get snapped very soon. His body is that of a schoolboy and the stress he puts his body under to move the way that he does has disaster written all over it.

But damn, he’s so fun to watch.
Watching people get snapped is also fun to watch

I think its a bit harsh to say we let him go when we didnt. We stood our ground on what we were willing to offer him and i think we put ourselves in a position where we had to do it because of all our other failed contracts. In all honesty, we probably made him a good offer for a player of his age and stage of development, he just got a better one.
We literally let him go a year early with nothing in return, like usual. I don't really care that we lost a player to bigger money but we keep helping every other club by releasing them early for nothing in return. We get walked over by every other team on and off the field these days.

Also he should get 5-10 weeks for that elbow drop. One of the worst things we've seen recently.

Reminds me a bit of Milford during his early days at the Raiders .... Nuff said.

Yep, we did let him go early, but i dont think keeping him would have helped anyone tbh.

Anyone giving Broncos for crap for not paying top tier dollars for Walsh has simply allowed selective amensia to forget what happens when you over spend on youth and potential over the last 2 seasons.

Broncos and Kevie did the right thing, Warriors took a HUGE risk and best case scenario they are getting their moneys worth out of Walsh..nothing more.

Certainly wouldn't have helped the Warriors..

They benefitted, but more in terms of us and Walsh i think holding onto him wouldnt have done anyone any favours. We should have stood our ground though and got somebody in return.

I reckon by this time Walters would have realised Isaako is shit and dropped him to Q Cup and given Walsh a game or two, where he would have performed ok and made everyone realise Isaako isn't the answer. There were definitely benefits to keeping Walsh for the rest of the year, most of which is not giving other teams whatever they want while we get nothing from them.

While the elbow might get him in some strife, I am sick of forwards being allowed to run with a raised elbow which is what Walsh reacted to. It happens every week, Palasia got absolutely slammed in the head against the Roosters but it seems to go unnoticed and unpunished.

What they should be asking is 'would they be winning more with RTS at the back'. Because they have won two games since he came in, three without. I will be impressed if they are top 8 once RTS is gone.

The media need to stop blowing these kids up, there talented but how many will stand the test of time. Bevan French is a prime example, he was made out to be the next big thing and he ended up in Super League. Walker I think is running a tight rope, his body is not ready for the big contact and the Roosters are running a risky game with him as he needs to put a bit of body mass on. He looks a bit busted up already and if he does something major it could derail him like a Jarrod Mullen.

The regies comp should really be brought back in, gives those young players a place to go, be part of the team and actually feel like they have a shot at playing their way into top grade. Also provides a place for players like Glenn to go back and play in the back end of a career. You could have two separate caps with a player wage maximum of 200k-250k. I bet we would see a big improvement in product quality.

Just on the Roosters and Walker.

If he does injure himself and / or go off the rails, he’ll really find out, and quickly, just how much the Roosters family look after you.

All he has to do to try and look into the future is ask Jayden Nikorima, Kyle Flanagan or even Mitchell Pearce how disposable you are as an underperforming half to a club like the Roosters.

Hey everyone, long time reader, short time poster....

I just cannot believe the hard on the media have for this kid and I will lay my house down that it will blow up something severe. Can anyone answer me this... how many immortals have won rookie of the year. I'll give you a clue, times it by ZERO and you have your answer. Now how many rookie of the years have gone on to have MASSIVELY dissapointing careers? Probably about 99% when your compare it to the hype train they get put on by the media and fans... and here we are AGAIN. "But he is different!" Hahaha yep, teams like the storm and roosters won't figure h ikm out I'm sure, especially after his elbowing episode... Walter's was 100000% right to tell this kid to earn his spot. Who shouldn't?! We whinge about the position we are in but we want Walter's to continue doing exactly what got us here.

In our team alone remember Isaako won rookie of the year, Milfords first FEW seasons (not just 4 games) he was the player of our generation, and flegler looked like webcke but taller. Ffs look at what happened to Sam walker after ONE GAME of him getting singled out and targeted. They may became greats, but I'll bet my left nut that the true immortal or great is some player currently playing who isn't the media darling, bcos that's what history shows happens time and time again.

Not to mention Jackson Hastings
