NEWS Reece Walsh sells his soul to Warriors. No big deal.

It's not a secret that NZ give about 3 ***** about League and Union is a religion. I would say that translates into media coverage. Anyway it was just a suggestion, they could have also convince that the culture was better, ie not as cliquey or whatever.
The funny thing about NZ is that League actually has a really strong following there. A lot of the Samoan and Tongan families that started their life in Australia are die hard league fans as well.

Even though they might typically live in western suburbs of Sydney (the large majority do) their allegience is still to the Warriors as they represent their home nation where their parents grew up. I would guess their following is probably 3rd-4th biggest in the league with supporter base. They are a passionate bunch.

Based on that, theres nothing we could have done. To think we only paid 150k more for Reynolds, game proven and experience. The club had to stick to its budget and i think has done the right thing.
Where are you getting the 150k more, isn't Walsh reportedly on 500k?

Not sure tbh, most Islanders I have met out here go for a Sydney team unless they are actually a Maori.

“We made him an offer he couldn’t refuse,” he conceded, about the reported $1.2m three-year deal.”

Where are you pulling the figures for Walsh?

3+1. If we get four years its 700 first 3 and a great deal on the 4th.

wot?

Sorry @porouian, all in jest, I swear 🤣

Can you confirm for us though, are the Warriors scrutinised by the local media outlets?
All good mate 🙃

Warriors are lucky to be 3rd-4th story in the sports news every night, and maybe a small column on the back page of the daily paper if not further in. Mainstream media used to be a lot harsher on them but I think their efforts and sacrifices during the pandemic have rightly brought them a lot of goodwill - remains to be seen how long this will last!

Are our r and r going to be held accountable at all for their constant failures? I haven’t bought into the meme about us ‘losing’ players like fifi because they were offered stupid overs, but Walker and especially Walsh (assuming he’s on 400k) are honestly sickening losses.

Ugh:
Only five games into his NRL career, Walsh has shown himself to be a player of rare ability. It begs the question - how did Brisbane allow him to sign with the Warriors until 2024 and leave mid-season?

Even Walsh thought he'd be a "Bronco for life".

"But that didn't work out and I'm here now and I'm fully invested into the Warriors. I'm loving it," he continued.

"I wanted to play first grade. Not saying I wanted to jump into it, but [Brisbane coach] Kevvie [Walters] ... just wanted to hold me back a little bit and had Jamayne [Isaako] there [at fullback].

FFS. Absolute and utter stupidity from Kev. I'm liking a lot of what Kev has done but this particular **** up is damn near unforgivable.

As if you'd hold back someone this good for Jamayne fucking Isaako of all people. I'd understand if he was a remotely good fullback but he's just not.
