He got moved into the top 30 this year that’s the first year of his deal. It’s not 1.2 divided by three it’s four.

From memory Reece said in an article his mum's side of the family had Maori heritage and he saw playing for the Warriors as a way to connect with that part of his cultural ancestry. Which is completely understandable. I don't think it was just about the money for him.
I mean if Ireland was just across the pond and I could get paid handsome $$$ to connect with my ancestry, doing what I love I'd be there in a second. Obviously money played a part, but when your young why not?
Seems to be working out for him. I just hope he commits to QLD like Gagai (Aboriginal and Maori heritage), and playing for Aus.

“I picked him up in Sydney and we went to dinner with Gus (Phil Gould).”
The following morning they sat down in Nathan Brown’s room at the Warriors’ base at Terrigal and went through video.
Then it was off to breakfast with Tuivasa-Sheck and Tohu Harris along with O’Sullivan, Brown and chief executive Cameron George, before lunch with Kodi Nikorima and Sean O’Sullivan, who Walsh now rooms with.
By the time they dropped him at Newcastle airport that night the poor old Broncos had well and truly had their pants pulled down.
While it was the biggest offer ever made to a rookie, it might end up one of the great bargain buys in the game’s history if Walsh’s career continues on the same trajectory.

Interesting that they sat him down with the big dogs (RTS and Tohu) but then also with two ex broncos. Wonder if there was any discussion about the differences between the set ups that may have swayed him?

Based on that, theres nothing we could have done. To think we only paid 150k more for Reynolds, game proven and experience. The club had to stick to its budget and i think has done the right thing.

NZ may be a bit behind Australia, but I’m pretty confident they have their own media outlets that report on the Warriors.
They are much like us, a one team town (but country).

It's not a secret that NZ give about 3 ***** about League and Union is a religion. I would say that translates into media coverage. Anyway it was just a suggestion, they could have also convince that the culture was better, ie not as cliquey or whatever.
