NEWS Reece Walsh sells his soul to Warriors. No big deal.

Just on the Roosters and Walker.

If he does injure himself and / or go off the rails, he’ll really find out, and quickly, just how much the Roosters family look after you.

All he has to do to try and look into the future is ask Jayden Nikorima, Kyle Flanagan or even Mitchell Pearce how disposable you are as an underperforming half to a club like the Roosters.
Perhaps underperforming halves should be dropped? The only one of those who is worth mentioning is Pearce who was replaced with Cronk. JN was trash.

Hey everyone, long time reader, short time poster....

I just cannot believe the hard on the media have for this kid and I will lay my house down that it will blow up something severe. Can anyone answer me this... how many immortals have won rookie of the year. I'll give you a clue, times it by ZERO and you have your answer. Now how many rookie of the years have gone on to have MASSIVELY dissapointing careers? Probably about 99% when your compare it to the hype train they get put on by the media and fans... and here we are AGAIN. "But he is different!" Hahaha yep, teams like the storm and roosters won't figure h ikm out I'm sure, especially after his elbowing episode... Walter's was 100000% right to tell this kid to earn his spot. Who shouldn't?! We whinge about the position we are in but we want Walter's to continue doing exactly what got us here.

In our team alone remember Isaako won rookie of the year, Milfords first FEW seasons (not just 4 games) he was the player of our generation, and flegler looked like webcke but taller. Ffs look at what happened to Sam walker after ONE GAME of him getting singled out and targeted. They may became greats, but I'll bet my left nut that the true immortal or great is some player currently playing who isn't the media darling, bcos that's what history shows happens time and time again.

Wally was rookie of the year in 1978!

In the BRL? Sorry, I didn't check the 2nd competition of the 70s, my mistake....That's a fair way back and in the 2nd best competition at the time, it almost reinforces my point lol...

Of course it's a fair way back, you're talking about the Immortals. Other than Johns they were all rookies more than 40 years ago.

The only ones that could have won it are Mal, Wally and Johns.

Sydney was started in 1980 and Brisbane 1975.

Absolutely, all underperforming players should be dropped (however, demotion is a lot different to punting them from their contract early), but that’s not the point I was making.

Nikorima and Flanagan (and Hastings, thanks @heartly87) were all promising halves, just like Walker. They were lured to the Roosters on decent coin and lauded as their half for the next decade. For different reasons, all were punted from the club before the ink had even dried on their contract. Pearce, like him or not, gave a lot to that club. The Roosters didn’t seem to care about his indiscretions, indeed defended him time and again, but then couldn’t get him out the door quick enough when Cronk was looking for a Sydney gig.

My point is, the Roosters roll out the red carpet when you’re the shiny new toy - they want the iPhone 12 Pro Max before anyone else gets it. Welcome to the family! But the minute something better comes along, you better start packing your fucking bags and put Lifeline on speed dial, as that same Roosters family will have forgotten your name before the sun rises and you’ve even had a chance to finish sipping your $10 morning latte overlooking Bondi.

The BRL is what Walters is asking them to do now, the 2nd competition. Have a look through the rookie of the year list.

You want to get historical, however, I will stick to the premier competition of the time....
Leiss, masterman, liddiard, linnane, Alan Wilson, Cameron Blair, Jason Martin, will Robinson, taseasa lavea... do you know who these players are? Honestly, without googling them, do you know them?.. and these are just the ones who aren't remembered FOR being such disappointments. I don't think you could name more then 5 from the last 20 years who have surpassed or met expectations set out in their first year. They get figured out, it's another thing all together to look good once everything you're doing is getting watched....

I agree with your point 100% btw. Three games doesn't make a career.

I'm not that fussed about Walsh. He's the shiny new toy, for now. He's clearly got talent but also some deficiencies - defence being the obvious one. He's also proven himself to be both a grub and a diver already.

He may turn out to be an elite fullback, but so be it.

He’s always had a swagger over confident move in him. Against Illawarra in 2019 he got a double and let them know over and over again.

Australia v New Zealand 2019 he sparked the fight when a kiwi dropped the ball and he ran in to give him a spray and pat his head.

I agree with the defense issue. He'd look worse in our squad. The dive and elbow don't worry me too much. Dunn definitely got him first and if Reece didn't retaliate I doubt Dunn would have gone on report as the NRL doesn't seem to care what the ball player does. They let them step around markers and walk 5m forward for example.

The Warriors moved RTS to accommodate Walsh because they know he is on his way to Union and they needed to blood a fullback now. If RTS wasn't leaving, you can be damn sure he would still be playing Fullback and Walsh would probably be playing for the Dogs or Tigers as an automatic starter.
I don't get this reasoning though. RTS is a far better fullback, especially defensively, than Walsh. The way I see it, the Warriors have made their team weaker by moving him to the wing. Why? Are they writing off this year already? And are they going to be a better team next year when RTS is gone? Just don't see it. Surely play your strongest team now and then start again next year.

You ignored the most obvious reason, they are coached by Nathan Brown.

Who could forget Jason Martin? The next big thing in RL and pop music!

When you give an 18 year old with one ISC game 500k you can't have him learning his trade for Redcliffe.
