He would be an absolutely brilliant signing.

IMO, he'd be fairly cheap and would be coming here to get his life back on track. The Broncos are probably the best club for such thing.

The Broncos with Bennett have been the best club for such a thing [icon_wink

Does Bellamy have the same influence on getting the best out of players and keeping them in line as benny has? eusa_think

He seems to have done a pretty good job with Mick Crocker so I don't think that'd be an issue.

That being said, we don't need someone like him at the club. There's players in the squad at the moment we should look at keeping first.

Dont want him, dont need him.

Given we know nothing on how much the Broncos have in the salary cap, or what players are being paid/offered to stay/offered to go, i would like to think we have a scenario that looks something like this.

Carrolls funds got used on Folau
Eastwood not offered a contract and $$ to go to Hannant. ( i am under the impression he is almost certain to go to the Warriors)
Boyd not offered a contract and $$ to go to Michaels.
Moon not offered a contract and $$ to go to Ennis. (Knights didnt want him, Dragons didnt want him and he spends 2 years on the injury list here. Starts 3rd year with us on fire. Mate you owe the Broncos another contract.)

This would mean we would need to find $$ to sign Taylor and Kenny. I for one would choose Taylor.
As for Stagg, i am happy for him to go to another club. Great defender but dont see much in attack. If we can keep him great.

Also i think Folau should play on the wing. Michaels is playing really well in the centres and our Wingers have not been up to scratch for the last few years. Also Folau was so damaging last year on the wing but now the Storm have moved him to centre, he hasnt been as damaging.
Hunt
Folau
Michaels
Hodges
Kemp
Lockyer
Wallace

That is a nice backline.

Most people will probably disagree with me, but i'd rather re-sign Boyd than Michaels.

Actually I'd probably agree with that

No disagreement here icon_thumbs_u

Tough one.

At the moment Michaels is the more solid of the two but if Boyd continues to improve (which I think he will) he'll probably be the better player in 2/3 years time.

Ideally it'd be great to keep both though.

Who cares, we have Folau, we're going to win the next 5 premierships.

Apparently

I like Michaels but I would rather Boyd. Michaels will go even if we want to keep him because the Titans will have a centre spot for him.

Kelsey will die when she reads this thread. [icon_lol1.

All this love for Boyd, never thought i'd see the day.

Massive LOL at people rating Boyd higher than Michaels.

The Titans won't necessarily have a center spot for him, they have quite a lot of outside backs on their books. they may tell him they have one just to get him to sign. remember Hodges originally left the Broncos to play fullback, then spent his entire time at the Roosters playing center.

Not really, Michaels is doing a good job in the centres(which frankly the opportunity to play there will almost certainly disappear next season with Folau joining which is a shame, the centres is his strongest position) but Boyd has shown his more capable in both the wing and fullback positions as well as being able to slot into the centres making him a more versatile option.

Boyd is more capable in the fullback position, but Michaels absolutely craps on him on the wing. Michaels' best position is on the wing. He is one of the best players in defense there, and much better than Boyd in attack.

Have to disagree with you there mate, Michaels best position is in the centres even he says so and wants to play there, Boyd's well suited in either centre, wing and fullback and Boyd is showing to be far more potent in attack this season as he was also in 2006 then Michaels was out on the wings last season. To get the most out of michaels its in the centres, unfortunately his got next to no chance of knocking either of Folau or Hodges from there so unless his willing to play on the wing (which his already casting doubt on) I can't see him being there, its a shame really I rate Michaels as a quality centre but not as effective on the wings, Boyd and Kemp are better prospects there.

I reckon Michaels is doing just as good a job at centre as Folau.

People seem seduced that the best centres have to be built like Meninga.

I re-state my view: we need Folau on the wing where we need quality finishing- like Wendell and Lote. That's where height/size matters.

As for Matuai - pfft. IMO, we already have all the forwards we need for a few seasons at least.

Folau is brilliant and wins matches with his pace, strength and awareness. As good as Michaels is I don't see that quality coming in him. Hope he stays and plays wing because he was good there and would have a field day outside of Folau. As for Matuai, if he is ready to change his ways and wants a fresh start and a pay cut after we get all the essentials re-signed then I would be happy to have him.

I still can't see how Boyd is a better winger than Michaels. Michaels is better under the high ball, a better tackler, runs the ball straight and hard, is one of the toughest players in our side and I really think he's much more damaging in attack than Boyd, despite Boyd being actually pretty decent this year...even though most of it was at fullback.

I understand Michaels wants to play centre too, and IMO we should really let him. Folau's reading of the game in the centres in defense is pretty suspect, but on the wings he'd be a very damaging runner. But I guess when they paid as much money for him as they have, they'd want him with the ball as often as possible.
