NEWS Right price to deliver Storm’s Brodie Croft to Broncos

Only seen the last ten minutes or so and haven’t thought that much of him.

How do you quantify cohesion? Serious question.

Don’t think you can quantify cohesion in stats but if I was to hazard a guess, I think a good start in measuring how much cohesion a team has would be using the example of McCullough shovelling the ball off to a forward for a settler inside the opposition 10 on the 4th with the halves screaming for the ball either side of him with space out wide, as the lowest end of the cohesion scale and using that as a measuring stick.

You’re like the far right of rugby league politics

Not really, you just get a lot wrong. You dont see these blokes play, you just look at the hype or the supercoach stats. Your comment about Papenhauzen is laughable. " He was seemingly unwanted " was the quote. Who exactly didnt want him?

@1910 schooled you with his comment. How can you pass any kind of judgement on any player if you dont watch them play a few times?

Fogarty absolutely carving up atm. @upthebroncs just might be on to something.

Funny looking back at this now. He was doing really well, but then arguably his game management went a long way to costing the Bears the game. Its probably the type of thing that stops him playing NRL.

Yep, as much as Burleigh collectively stunk it up it was up to the halves to regain some form of composure.
That last play when he went to ground just summed it up. A kick into touch wins it, a kick over the dead ball wins it, even running backwards or out wins it.
TBH I doubt I have seen a bigger team choke in a GF because the Jets nearly matched them mistake for mistake and they still found a way to lose.

I don’t really care. Just don’t be surprised if the club signs Fogarty.

Mal may be smart enough to keep him at the GC though.

There are articles saying that Broncos would be open to signing Ash Taylor for 150k. I’d actually prefer Fogarty.

I’d take Taylor on 150k in a heartbeat or Croft, either would be fine.

Yeah he did seem to go off the boil a little bit in the second half. He must have been pretty consistent throughout the year to receive the accolades he has but.

Everybody is crucifying him for the brain fart he had in the last 30 seconds. It was a bad play no doubt but Burleigh really should have been able to close the game down. It took a brilliant kick and a fortuitous bounce to win Newtown that game, rather than Fogarty losing it for them. Burleigh wouldn't have even been in that position if Fogarty hadn't have played as well as he did throughout most of the game.

He just made a mistake, like every other person does. He looks first grade quality to me.

Burleigh choked or Newton pulled off two brilliant kicks in the second half, mixed in with a little bit of luck?

Smart enough to keep Fogarty he reckons..

You realise he's been in the NRL system for years, right? He was in the Titans NYC / feeder club system from 2012-2015, before signing for the Eels in 2016, came back to the Titans in 2017, played 2 games for them in the middle of 2017, and hasn't played another game since.

By my estimates, the Titans have used 9 different players in the halves ahead of him since that debut. Ash Taylor, Tyrone Roberts, Tyrone Peachey, Ryley Jacks, AJ Brimson, Bryce Cartwright, Tanah Boyd, Kane Elgey, Jarryd Hayne.

You're right, the Titans will be smart to keep him, valuable player.

Just because they haven’t used him doesn’t mean he’s worse than the players they have used.

If anything it indicates the Titans performance as a club.

Jahrome Hughes was a player that Titans failed to see the worth in. Jordan Rapana is another one.

Your argument means nothing.

And if I were in charge of Titans I’d only have AJ Brimson and Tanah Boyd on my books out of the players you named.

You know there is this weird thing that happens in sport where players improve and mature as their career develops. I'm not saying he has, but it's possible he has turned the corner and is now ready to contribute at NRL level. I certainly wouldn't rule it out.

Tough one to weigh up, do we trust the judgement of the scouts of 16 NRL clubs who are paid to watch NSW/QCUP and search for players they deem capable of performing at the NRL level, or do we trust the judgement of a guy on a forum who may or may not have ever seen him play football

This argument is a bit of a throwback. It kinda reminds me of some of the suggestions we used to get on this forum when Bennett was coach. No matter how big a nuffy the player was there was always a group of people making the argument that Bennett would get the best out of them. Thank **** discussions like this are few and far between these days.

Yeah, let’s all just wander through life questioning nothing. Sounds like bliss.

I question plenty mate, but we're going to have options in the halves if Croft signs, we'll need to figure out what we've got between him, Milford, Dearden & Paix - But all 4 of those guys would be comfortably ahead of any hypothetical ISC signing. I doubt signing Fogarty as a 5th string 26 year old Halfback is really the best way to use a top 30 spot.. Don't you?

Haha is the conversation really that unbearable to read man? I think people are too quick to put a pen through certain players names. I'm sure a lot of people thought Cooper Cronk wouldn't cut it in the NRL at the start of his career but he has gone on to achieve arguably more than any other player in history. He won't ever be an immortal based purely on people's opinions.

Mat Gillet and Daly Cherry-Evans were late bloomers, Gillet has had an impressive career and Daly is the beat half in the comp. I'm sure there are plenty of others like these two.

The reality is that players just develop at different rates. You have guys like Jayne who dominated from the outset only to decline over the course of his career. As opposed to guys like Corey Parker who mature like a fine wine only getting better with age.

This is why we need to be patient with guys like Shiba. He is a big lad who undoubtedly has some ability. I hope we continue to nurture his development rather than throw him on the trash heap like most are suggesting.

DCE made his debut at like 21 after being behind Foran and Hodkinson. In his rookie season he was the rookie of the year. Wouldn't exactly say he was a late bloomer...

As for Shiba, i have plenty of doubt over him having ability. Has done less than nothing in his NRL games. Doesn't know how to score and that's basically youre job as an outside back.
