NEWS Right price to deliver Storm’s Brodie Croft to Broncos

Absent the Croft signing is somewhat irrelevant, we're going to sign either him or Sezer, that's pretty much guaranteed at this point. Our depth will be fine with Croft/Sezer, Milford & Dearden. Not even factoring in the other less impressive options we could use. You'll struggle to find a club that has 5 or more halves on the books in their top 30.

While I do agree with you, unfortunately nothing is guaranteed with this administration. At this stage I honestly wouldn't be shocked if we rolled out the same team accompanied by a serious of articles talking about Boyd's best preseason ever and the confidence in a Boyd/Turpin alliance poised to break the longest premiership drought in Broncos history.

I think what unbreakable is saying is that you have to pick your battles when it comes to depth... and top 30 spots may be better spent on ensuring depth at other positions instead of having 4-5 halves on board just in case.

In regards to our halves depth it's probably along the lines of

Milf + Croft/Sezer
Dearden
Bird
Paix
Macca / Boyd / Turpin

So you're looking at probably 4 injuries to halves before Paix is next up... then you have Macca, etc. In a pinch after that, with SOS probably due back by mid year or so.

If you're copping that many injuries to your halves your year is pretty well done anyway, but you can also leave a slot open in your top 30 before June 30 and pick up a half from ISC or look to other squads where guys aren't getting a game, and look for early releases.

This could have been a possibility if we had lost a tight one to parra in week 1 of the finals. The matter in which we lost the last game of the year pretty much assures us that we aren't going into next year without an established half signing period. They will want to make a statement in the off season with a high profile recruit.

A further example from this year are the Cowboys who lost Te Maire Martin, Hampton and Clifford to injuries which led to them playing Asiata in the halves.

Hampton hasn't played in the halves in several years, and Clifford was left out for Asiata long after he returned from injury, not exactly the best example.

We will have to agree to disagree, as you said. I'd be far more willing to put Reece Walsh on a development contract than waste a top 30 spot on journeyman like Fogarty, but hey, what do I know.

Mate I hope so, believe you me. Like I read this and think that it is only common sense that this is the case, but really has anything this administration has done in the last 5 years been common sense?

Yep, good points, I had forgotten about Bird as well, in which case you and Unbreakable are on the money and it would be a waste of a top 30 spot.

Ultimately conceded your point, see above.

Jamal Fogarty has been trying for years to crack the NRL and has not given up.

If anything, this shows immense commitment and dedication to the sport.

We could literally just release Milford and put Fogarty at 6 and end up being better off as a club. What does Milf provide? Attacking spark? Well, we don't need that anymore.. And it's definitely not worth 1 mil now.

upthebroncs is my new dealer. good stuff huh? a shame he is unprofessional and samples his own product.

Must be meth or something to cook up that opinion though 🙃

Gotta love the offseason...

Milf has accomplished nothing at the Broncos other than a few flukey tries.

And you think swapping him for Fogarty would be an improvement?

Milf hasn't turned out to be the next Locky or anything - but he's been dealt pretty shitty cards with halves partners since 2015, no?

Overpaid, yes. But Milf is not the problem with this team.

Congratulations mate on getting engaged to Ms Fogarty.

At this point it's either trolling or a Fogarty family member. It has to be.

We'd free up about 900k and have a player that would contribute just as much, if not more than Milford does.

I seriously just think Milford is a waste of money.

Man it would have been funny to see a club continuously sign Ben Roberts on a 1 mil a year contract. These sorts of players can only offer so much to a team.
