While you don't want to get rid of all your experience to accommodate kids, you need to look at balance.
Which of these is going to be better in the next three to five years?
Bird, Boyd
v
Oates, Su'A, Haas, Fifita, Lodge, TPJ
Essentially this is what it may well boil down to, though we are likely to keep 2 (maybe 3 if lucky) of that second group.
Oates can go, hes great on the wing but I'd take Sua in the second row over him. Better defensively and is a harder player. Replace Oates with Shibasaki or Pearson. Glenn to the bench and Sua on the LSR, Gillett on the right and ushering Fifita in. McGuire and Lodge up front with TPJ13. Haas, Carrigan, Fifita, Glenn on the bench. Glenn any Gillett to retire/move on after 2020.
Our attack is going to really struggle next year if we still have the mess with our halfback and then also replace Oates with Pearson lol.
The Issue we have is i dont see us as a side who will throw quite a few of these kids in to find their feet. I dont think anyone, fans or the people running the club would accept a couple of seasons of not being a big player in the NRL. I also dont think we have a core of good, solid leaders around to help them. We have very few players who i think are captain material.

Yep it is a massive issue...which makes me wonder whether they may dangle that carrot in front of TPJ.
I have a bit of knowledge of the situation, yes :)
I'm not so sure tbh he is the kind of captain we are looking for quite honestly. He is certainly capable of coming up with big plays to lift the team, but i'm not sure just yet he has that calmness about him when the team needs to settle down a bit. I just dont think outside of Boyd ( yes i know it isnt a popular train of thought, but the players all look to him on and off the pitch ) we have anyone close to captain material. Possibly Macca, but thats about it.
Bill Hunter could convince Su’A and TPJ to do anything.
That's a fantastic name for an agent.Who's Bill hunter ?

I don’t see why we can’t offer Su’a a starting spot. Glenn has been on & off the bench for most of his career. A back row of Su’a, TPJ and Gillett would be viable.
Agree a lot with this. Oates is amazing & will be amazing in the second row, but Sua has proved himself a talent in the position. Only difference for me is isaako keeps right wing, Kahu to the left wing with Pearson, shibisaki as back up. We may lose Oates and opacic.Oates can go, hes great on the wing but I'd take Sua in the second row over him. Better defensively and is a harder player. Replace Oates with Shibasaki or Pearson. I don't think it's as doomed as the papers insinuate, we will lose someone we want to keep but we won't lose more then that if we do it right (eg if we lose Sua, Oates will stay for the 2nd row chance or the above)...
Fifita and haas are signed beyond this year, TPJ has stated he wants to stay, lodge wants to pay us back by all accounts.
Sims, tagatese and Thaiday gone means that there's opportunity for these young guys to make a spot there's, should be enough to keep most of them....
