NEWS Rival's $1.5 million raid on boom Bronco

Does anyone think Hunt is playing a bit better this year because he is getting better service from dummy half? I think if we can get better service to Milf he will be on fire again - none of these rubbish slow passes that are above, behind, below etc.

(The media crowing over Hunt is not surprising, he's definitely playing better than he did last year and in 2015 he was getting plenty of media love. He nearly won the Dally M. His kicking game is still puss though, and will be exploited in Origin)

McInnes is having a great year and his service is helping but it all comes back to the forward pack they are killing it which makes it easier for the halves

True if Macca could get his passing just slightly better it would help especially when passing to milf who hasn’t got the best hands as it is

I hope not. He's got the fullback spot sewn up once Slater retires and we have the 5/8 position well and truly covered.

Halfback is trickier, Hunt and Morgan can certainly do it, but I'm hoping Taylor can go another level to cover the halfback position, as he has tools no one else in that group of players has.

Ponga reminds me so much of Lockyer at the same age (if not a little better) that is how highly I rate him. He has an incredible ceiling but I hope he stays at fullback.

Move Gillett to lock , but i also think it's time for glenn to move aside.

you keep saying that but he has been one of our best this year (and the second half of last season)

many of the fans may criminally under-rate Glenn ... but it is a good thing his coach doesn't

Big issue is I dont see how we can keep putting up huge money for players who are just potential right now even if its huge potential.

i agree with this ... if you do this you'll end up in similar positions to the Tigers (when the put massive overs to keep Brooks and Moses) or the Knights with the Mata'utia brothers

and i would much rather us fight for the top 4/8 that the spoon

Honestly, I doubt it. He'll always be a utlility imo. Munster and Morgan have the halves sown up for a while yet, and if it's not them, DCE and Hunt will get a crack before Milf. He showed in his game last year he isn't close to making the step up yet.
I think long term with the way milf is progressing he would fit in well next to Morgan albeit with one massive condition... Morgan would need to bring his game back to the level he showed last year when JT was out.

That would provide a first receiver halfback in Morgan allowing milf to play as a traditional second receiver and would also provide two handy kicking games (long and short).

I think Munster is lacking a long kicking game and to me he is just a flat out gun at fullback, which is where he should be moved to when Slater retires.

1. Ponga
4. Munster
6. Milf
7. Morgan

Edit totally forgot about Ponga. He is another total gun. Munster has to be somewhere and I think he'd make a great left center. Plays left side, has a handy short kicking game, super strong, high work load, solid defender... what more can be said.

Broncos should be planning a raid for either Ponga or Munster when their contracts are up!!!

That pass he threw to Sio last week was carbon copy Lockyer.

Seriously think we should be planning a raid on him when his contract is up I think he comes off contract around the same time as Boyd (if Boyd makes it that far).

Also the media pundits saying that losing Taylor will be the biggest blunder in history should be looking at cows who decided Coote was a better option over Ponga!!

Milford has played a number of blinders and a number of bloopers but as a 5/8 I very much doubt he has more upside than Munster. If he can make it as a halfback he is an excellent chance of being an Origin player for many years but it won't be this year. It will take an injury or very dramatic form reversal to see Hunt miss out on #7. If we lose the first game this year I think Slater will be dropped and Ponga will have fullback sewn up for many years barring the emergence of a freakish talent.

If that's the case when Smith retires, consider the fort sacked.

What a crazy thing to say!

If we lose, Slater is dropped?

I've no doubt someone will be dropped if we lose, but why Billy?

If I was coach I would drop the players who, you know, performed badly???

What if Billy is damn near best on ground in a losing QLD side - drop him anyway?

You're not making sense fella!

The name Corey Oates ring a bell?

Agree he has been much better last month and among the best but that isn’t saying much in the current team I’m afraid.

Yeah I think he's getting service from dummy half along with having a forward pack the makes massive metres and dominates most other packs is definitely helping him. He's always on the front foot playing behind a pack that easily rolls up the park. Our pack is improving but he didn't have the same luxury while he was playing with us.

Maybe he just wasn't that bad playing for us..
He just had the GF dropped ball weighing down on him and the pressure of playing HB for the highest profile club in the world. It's no fluke that he is thriving elsewhere. Leaving Brisbane was a smart move and StG and Qld will reap the benefits.

St George definitely have a considerably better pack than what we had in 2016 and 2017, and McInnes is probably a better passer than McCullough too (a number of hookers are). It seems like a perfect fit for Hunt there, it's true. It'll help him get over the Grand Final completely, if he hasn't yet.

Wouldn't mind him getting """homesick""" and coming back here next year for a smaller wage.

Who'd want to be a half back for the Brisbane broncos.. no wonder we can't find one anywhere.

Never said he wasn't playing any good, i just think sua will be where glenn is quickly if he gets a spot. Glenn hasn't been consistently good over the last 3 seasons, and with all this talent we need to look to the future . I have no doubt sua will be rhe better player , and Glenn can show him the way by giving way.

If Su'A wants to go, he can go.

I wonder if Alex Twal wants to come to Brisbane..
