NEWS Rival's $1.5 million raid on boom Bronco

If Su'A wants to go, he can go.

I wonder if Alex Twal wants to come to Brisbane..
And who would you lose for him? We don't need forwards, unless it's a Taumalolo or Taupau, and as good as Twal is, he's not either of those...

I don't think we need anyone. Don't forget we still have Glenn, Savelio, Oates, and Fifita coming through. I'd rather not spend any money buying new forwards and just try and retain some of our talent. Or buy a halfback.

Tagataese and Sims.

We don't need backrowers, but the front row is an area we can improve in. I don't really rate Fai that highly, and I can't see Mago getting much of a crack. I would put Twal above both of them.

While Lodge might stay, it's only a matter of time before he goes back to Sydney and I think TPJ will be much better off as a lock.

Savelio is heading home according to O'Dowd.

I would like us to do something similar with TPJ to what Souths do with Sam Burgess. Have him start games at lock and then around 20-25' once the props start rotating, slide him into that rotation and keep him on the park for as long as physically possible.

What that means for McGuire is obviously unclear but probably a shift to starting prop and 50-55min per game. Maybe the lower minutes will increase his impact and he can forge an aggressive tandem of destruction with Lodge. That would leave Sims, Ofa, Haas, Thaiday and one of Glenn/Su'a (whoever doesn't start) as options for the bench.

The management & Wayne wouldn't have allowed two 18 year olds to debut in the forwards without the belief that the kids would excel in their roles. To their credit, the kids (Sua & Payne) impressed everyone in their debut & learning the trade by sheer handwork and strong will. Most importantly, they love playing for Mighty Broncos & want to stay here.

If they are convinced then and these kids keep performing continuously, then Locky & team should absolutely do something to keep these 2 here locked up.

How long do we keep developing kids for other clubs? It's about time we keep our brigade here locked up longer terms.

Come on Locky, of all the people you know very well that it was 12 very long years ago we won comp. Give us the fearless mob to win another comp in locking u these guys.

I keep saying it, but we cant keep paying these kids huge money for just potential. It's going to hamstring us badly with the salary cap if we have so much money tied up in players who might not even make the grade. They should be earning contracts, not having them handed to them on a plate. If they choose to leave then so be it.

Yeah, I agree. You just hope, that individually, they all want to stay together to build something special. Love for all of them to stay but am expecting to lose a few of them.

Like who ?? And times are changing now, you need to pay them or someone else will.

by giving all these young kids big contracts, we will likely have to lose consistent seasoned first graders ... in their place will be kids who in most cases will struggle to stay at the constant level required to win NRL games.

this means we can definitely kiss goodbye to a premiership anytime soon ... and probably start booking September holidays for at least the next few years

True but I feel Sua in particular has shown he can handle first grade as a starter so in that sense we're not banking on potential.

I think Sua has been earmarked to take Glenn's starting role maybe as early as next year with Glenn moving to the bench as the fix it second row sub (largely occupied by Sammy last year and Sua this year).

Glenn's contract expires next year but I'd say he gets retained in that spot subbing in for injuries/origin when required. Kind of like Bakuya does for the sharks.

The opportunity is there for Sua, so would be a shame to lose him when he's so close to becoming a regular

Fixed it. :)
Seriously, we all give the Roosters grief, and rightly so might I add.

But what I wouldn’t give to have their accountants polish the turd that is my finances the way they do with the Roosters books.

Imagine how wealthy I’d be, or appear to be at the very least!

Get rid of the cap for club jrs who have played <50 NRL games at the club that developed them (so wouldn't apply to Ponga at the Cows/ Knights, or us with TPJ). There you go, that will entice parasite clubs to start developing players.

EDIT: Once the player leaves the system for another the cap free benefit goes with it.
