Roosters Vs. Broncos *SPOILER* & POST GAME TALK

oh i forgot to mention how much i hate the rooster fans.

When Clinton or any1 else for that matter got injured the chook pen would stand up and cheer.

When Anasta went down late in the game i got up and yelled, yeh he's injured lets all f'n cheer, and looked straight at em. I got a nice welcome until i yelled out 'see none of us broncos fans cheer when you guys get injured, its called sportsmanship you morons.'

I know you can't judge a player solely on stats but.. Nick Kenny dominated.

He had 14 runs (the equal highest in the team) for 135m (the second highest in the team only behind Hodges).

Sims on the other hand only played 20mins (I don't think Bennett has much faith in him), made 9 tackles and 5 runs for just 36m. Seriously, Sims should be cut. I'd much rather have Taylor on the bench.

agree re sims and kenny. Chalk and cheese. Kenny has been great over the second half of the year. Stagg was brilliant last night too, and parker is improving. That's what was pleasing, a few guys who have been copping some criticism have aimed up.

Sims came on when the Roosters fowards were at their most instensive. He took some tough runs up for the team.

I agree.

When he came on all the Roosters boys were fired up and chomping at the bit after O'Meley's 'hit'. Sims took some tough runs when many of our other forwards were nowhere to be seen.

I thought our pack was brilliant last night seeing we were without probably our best forward of the last month or so for most of the game. Hannant, Sammy T and TC were superb and Nick Kenny continues to improve in both attack and defence and looks more than ready to step into Hannant's spot next year. Our pack went a long way to erasing criticism that they are soft - the boys copped some real punishment from the Roosters but went back for more and gave some of our own which was great to see.

Gee the Roosters are a boring side to watch - they showed a few glimpses of attack last night but their current game plan of ruck it for 5 and then put up a bomb no matter where they are on the field is just terrible. Surely having a player of Fittler's talent as coach means they could be a bit more imaginative than that!

Shillington has some nerve claiming we are a dirty side after the crap his pack gives up every week - O'Meley is the king of the facial! I know Ennis and Parker have plenty of niggle in their game but it is finals footy and what was on show last night looked to be no different from any other game during the year.

Great to see some vintage Broncos attack last night - that try after half time was amazing. The backs are really clicking into gear. Kemp and Boyd are going gangbusters, Hodges and Locky are just getting better every week and Wallace is doing everything we have needed a #7 to do over the last few years. I don't care what anyone says about how good Slater and Stewart are - Melbourne and Manly can have them, we have K and when you look at their all round games he has to be the best fullback in the comp.

We are looking good for next week I think - apart from a few bumps and bruises we look to be injury free again and should be able to field the same team as last night which is fantastic!

Not bothering to read the last 8 pages.

Our pack was owned that first 40. IMO, that will be sending alarm bells through WB, who in turn would be sending more than aalarm bells through his forwards.

Since when, does one of the pack get K.O.'d and no one either starts a punch up on the spot, or levels up on said offending opposition forward? It's the laws of football. Pigs look after pigs. I was very dissapointed with this.

The greats; Cann, Gee Gee, Tallis, Gillmeister, even Webb- would have all been disgusted by our pack for lack of action. O'Meley should have been left on the ground at some point in the game. He owned our forwards and none responded. Let's not forget we are playing Storm very soon, a team with one of the most vicious (and score settling) pack in the comp. The boys will want to tak some "Forwards only" training over the next week, look each other in the eyes, and reclaim the fact they will fall for ach other.

Apart from the negative of not standing up then. Sims really impressed me last night. As well as Kenny...who always seems to these days. Tunza played his wide running role well, even Parker had moments in the second half, seemed to actually break 2 tackles that I counted. Thaiday was kinda solid, went missing in the first, esp after the Clinton hit and Hannant...hmm. I will grant he's playing better, but I'm still asking for alot more...because I know he has it.

/end rant on pack.

I told a few on here, that this was going to be Bulldogs 06. We got everything against us in that first half. Roosters flopped everything they could (seriously, I was counting 3 tackls a set flopped), they were allowed to lie all over us in the play the ball slowing our sets massivly. And they still could only get across twice....once from an intercept...LOLZ @ Roosters. Not to mention Hodges being held down after his 70 metre break...that should have been a send off IMO. When the Roosters went to Video Ref, and they were checking if Soli' (sp. not even going to bother:)) knocked on, home come they didn't bother checking if a) Wallace was taken out. b) Lockyer was held back by a Roosters player. Deadset in the replay you see a Rooster put his arms out, grab Lockyer, pull him back, then throw a foot out and pull Lockyer down to the ground! This was one of the worst refereeing displays Broncos have had this year.

Hunt was exceptional once again. 08 is his greatest year todate. Hodges pwned Minichello...LOL. Hodges did very well to hold off against Anasta as well, hopefully he knows the tightrope he is walking. Lockyer is god.

Ennis....some great plays, his 40/20 was massive. He also caught them offside a million times, just that Archer had been paid so he didn't call it. However, I was scared to see a few grubber kicks to himself starting to sneak back in. I thought he had ridded himself of them....let's hope next week, he won't be under such pressure and plays as a hooker, not a star halfback again.

We have the ability to take this out if we want it, we need our pack to rise above all else, the backs will do what they have to. It may not be pretty (ala first try after break), but they will find the line, if the pigs give them the go forward.

Agree for only 20 minutes taylor could easily replace him.

With Clinotn out for the game you think Kenny, Sims and Thaiday would get more shared minutes but kenny really stepped up.

If he has hardly any faith in Sims then give those 20 - 30 min to Taylor. He could spark something for the finals. Something the other teams wont expect. im suprised he's not even put down as 18th man.

He was very much out of his comfort zone too. I thought he did a solid job stepping in for Clinton when the match was at its most fierce.

Nick Kenny - well he just continues to prove wrong those who say he is just 'average'. He's going to be great next year filling in for Hannant.

Just read the grub statement....I know I throw this around more than I should but seriously..Shillington...LOLZ

Wanna see a true grub...a true sneaky little weasle in action? Watch the second Roosters try, scored by Topou.

I'll take you through a play by play account.

Topou throw yawning gap, runs under posts, Thaiday tries to leseen the distance between under the posts so tackles Topou. Topou forgets he's playing a contact sport, gets upset with Thaiday still holing him and pushes him. Thaiday gets upsets and grabs Topou again. A scuffle develops, everyone holds each others jersey. Says "whatever" to each other, then turn away to celebrate/ kick the proverbial dog.

In from the sides comes a flying rat, known to the educated Footballing world as, "Mythical Pearce", aka "The Myth" aka "The Enigma".

After everyone has truned, Myth runs through, pushes Thaiday on the chest, then sprints off faster than he has ran in his life, immediatly behind his forward pack.

Bhaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahaahahahahahahahahahaha.

What a BITCH!

I'm unsure if that was the gayest or grubbiest thing i've ever witnessed a RL player do.

It's far too early to be making sweeping statements, but if current form continues, by both parties concerned, Kenny will b playing Origin 09 over Hannant. IMO he is offering more at the present time.

Agree on Pearce, he is the biggest myth in the game. He's like the bloke that always hits you when you back is turned, absolute pussy!!!!!

Man that was awesome lol

Shillo the pillowbiter and Mythal Pearce can sulk all they like, the roosters will get smashed if they come acrosss us again.

Anyone know when tickets go on sale for the next semi?

I would imagine season ticket holders can purchase on Monday and the public can get them on Tuesday.

Yep, that's what the NRL email said.

I absolutley agree here and especially if they have supposed "superstars" playing in the halves in Anasta and Pearce. They only scored 1 try by their own accord last night, the other was just a bad play by Locky unfortunately.

Any news on Hunt, Clinton and Boyd. Boyd was hopping arround on 1 leg in the last few mins and Hunt was with the trainer nilly all game.

Rooster Shillington accuses Broncos of dirty play

http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegrap...001023,00.html
"All the dirty stuff started after Ogre's first hit," Shillington said. "My job is to back that up. It was good to feel that dominance."

Like I said before, this backs my statements. Forwards protect forwards. Shillington's job was to back up O'Meley after his big hit. Out forwards should have ripped O'Meley's head off his shoulders.

Gee Gee and Tallis would have. Someone in our pack needs to become the enforcer...prepared to take some sitdown time if need be, but O'Meley wouldn't have got away with that against Warriors, Storm, Canberra, Rabbits, Dragons, even Pritchard and the Panthers pack would have let him have it all.
