Agree with your list. I would be going gamble at 6 (we just look to be a better side when he plays). I think they may put brenko at centre to give cobbo more time developing at fullback.

What i am excited about is the depth we have this year. If there are injuries/suspensions they can now be replaced by players with experience playing against men or are about first grade ready. We dont seem to be dependent upon throwing in young untested players unless it is planned anymore.

I do like this side and its nice and exciting having abit of competition for spots. Some good pre seasons and trials might push some guys into contention.
It will be interesting to see what the plan is with Brenko Lee I think he was originally signed as a starter but form and development of Nui and Cobbo and Staggs sticking to the centres may have changed that.

I understand why the Broncos didn't get in to a bidding war over Gagai, but the more I've watched of him this year, the more I've admired his competitiveness and effort. It was certainly true a few years ago that Club Gagai and Qld Gagai were two different players, but I don't think it's the case any more. He would have made a great center partner to Staggs and allowed Nui and Cobbo to fight it out for the fullback spot. Watching Cobbo today has me super excited, and while he may not be NRL ready, he would be better off developing as a fullback in the Q-Cup than being given an NRL jersey in the centres simply because he is a talent and is versatile.

Benji to the Titans is the buzz from Rothfield today. Still think he'd be a handy pickup - in any capacity - especially given the time he's spent with Reynolds. Even if he retires mid season.

If we are happy signing guys like KHunt and Kelly then surely Benji is worth a punt.

With only two spots left on the roster though, I'd rather keep it open in case someone really unexpected becomes available. Otherwise, I'd rather stick with Gamble.

If you were wanting to test Tesi's defence at training would you rather Benji or Billy Walters? Who would you rather have milling around the playground giving advice? This is where signing Kevvie's kid comes back to bite us on the arse.

I'm not going to disagree with that, Walters was an unnecessary signing but you could a retired player to do that and it wouldn't suck up a list spot, someone who was a great 6 and 1 and sits on the board for example.

I agree which is why they should’ve been more selective with some of their depth signings. We’ll be fine without him though.

We’re better off signing him as a fucken coach if that’s the case

Cobbo is very good but he is very raw and has a lot of errors in him when he plays at fullback… the only way to get that out of him is if he plays fullback for q-cup unless pre-season fixes him up

I might get absolutely murdered for this but I’m just spitballing here:
What if we trialled Tesi at 6. I know Ezra is coming through but with Tesi likely not going to get an outside back position and Cobbo getting closer and closer to the fullback spot by the day, would it be worth trying to turn tesi into a half. He is a kicking game away from possibly being a very good 6.

thoughts?

What I mean is worst case scenario he retires and becomes an assistant coach for us and not the Titans. Best case, we have a best in class utility with an impeccable work ethic, recent Grand Final experience, an understanding of Reynold's game and not least of all, legend status with our Kiwi kids (that's about half the team these days). Even is he's not making the run on team, he's leading the attack against us in training and looking for holes.

But, it's all moot, because we have Billy Walters in that role. And no, if Darren Lockyer was worth shit as a mentor, our spine wouldn't have looked like a bag of donkey dicks since he retired. His legacy as a mentor is TPJ, Darius Boyd and Anthony Milford.

Fine. Like I've been saying other than Reynolds and Staggs, not one back owns his position like its his. And even Staggs has been earmarked at 6. Hooker's not much better. There's a queue of players not quite good enough to own that position either.

I'm disinclined to hype Ezra Mam just yet. Where's his team right now?

A defeated semi finalist without him in it due to injury?

Personally I like this move, he can be a really good player for us. Strong carries, but more of a depth signing i feel, comes cheap as well. Dave and Ikin making smart and wise moves
