Matty is certainly right about that last point. We have been a rudderless ship since Locky retired. Nobody with the guts or fortitude to stand up and take charge. It's been a popularity contest for far too long. That's why we were doing really well when Hodgo was captain because he just did not give a **** about being popular with the playing group.

It’s also something that we’ve known about since Lockyer announced his retirement and we’ve had no answer to the question in spite of having 5 seperate coaches. 10 years now without a recognised half either through the club’s stubbornness to recruit or terrible development.

2015 was a fantastic year, great adlib intuitive football from Hunt/Milford/McCullough & Nikorima but look at them all now. Their method of football is unsustainable for consistent success over a career.

Let Milf derp it up at some other club who thinks he’s got more to offer and look to buying someone of the Maloney/Pearce/Cronk mould that can deliver over the next 10 years as captain and chief playmaker.

He could do a mixture of both. This season is a write off anyway. Why not use it to experiment, build and develop our younger guys.
Incredible. Not a ball kicked and the seasons a 'write off'. Probably better getting 30 park footballers in, free beer and pizza and play our professionals in ISC or better still just get them playing on PS4. No injuries that way.

I mean with our current rate of injuries, that is basically what is happening now.

"That’s where Croft or Dearden come in — you can have the biggest, strongest pack in the world but it’s like having a car with a V8 engine and no steering wheel."
Did Matty watch any games last year? If our pack was a v8 it was a 1950s seppo v8 that had been left uncovered in a paddock somewhere before being pressed into service with fucked head gaskets, no timing, fouled plugs and at least one cracked rod. Having Ayrton fucking Schumacher behind the wheel wouldn't make a difference when the lifter valley is full of the shattered remains of the tappets and the oil pan full of what used to be piston rings.

Be better off playing Glenn at centre at this point.

I've always liked the idea of Oates at centre but that was pre-regression, so now who knows.

would get killed laterally

Yeah I agree but I was talking potential wise pre-regression. These days he isn't really first grade standard in any position.

All of this was just to distract from the mysterious rookie with the receding hairline, glasses and moustache training at hooker.
Brilliant hahaha.

Holy shit. Countdown to team list Tuesday is on. What quality of shit sammich are we going to be served up? Quick, Sproj - belt out a dozen team lists! Schnell. Schnell!

I think we need to concentrate our attacks down their left side. They basically have a new combination there with Sivo, Opacic and Matteson moving to the left and i reckon there could be plenty of gaps there. Niu is a lot faster than Tommy so if we can get him some ball with a bit of room to move he could get a lot of joy.

I'm in a similar boat to @Sproj (for a change) ... I would have liked to see Oates at centre (pre-Seibold).

I think he would go really well in attack ... defence though could be a bit of an issue.

Well at least we don’t need to worry about him staying on his wing. Last year he came off it so often you’d be forgiven for thinking he was already trying to play centre.

Riki is a legitimate backline option. Played on the wing for Norths in 2019. One of the things I liked about Riki was Smith asked him to do a job and he put his hand up.

Don't you dare pick on a seppo 50's v8. Them's fighting words.

Alex Glenn in an interview said that Herbie will be right to play this weekend, so Oates was just filling in it seems.

Reading this reminds me of when Eastwood had to drop back to the wing to cover injuries in a game against the Warriors in NZ - he just or the job done, even scored or setup a try from memory.
