Does it?
Since when has Dearden been guaranteed to miss out?
Since the coach sent him to the Magpies a week out from Rnd 1.
Croft will be 7, Dearden likely to be in the extended reserves (18-21) as cover along with his Magpie team mate, Oates.

Perhaps he wanted to get more game time in his legs

RIki did too, scored a try and 122m from 12 runs- 6 tackle breaks- he did a great job.

Speaking of big forwards on the perimeter.... Anyone remember when Greg Eastwood used to do stints on the wing for us?

He was actually damn good there for a big fella.. I remember one game in particular against the Warriors he tore it up out on the flank.

This was when he was still young.. before he added considerable HEFT later into his career.

We used to have two forwards on the wings with Lote and Wendell.

I'm not expecting anything in the W column just hoping to see some resilience when things get tough, also how much we have lightened up to improve our lateral movement and how much we have improved on the new rules .
If KW can get these things sorted we will at least compete.

It's kinda fucked because I was half hoping Kevvie could get Oates back into form again. Come back outstanding winger Corey Oates I still miss you.

Dobbo was on Triple M this morning, Croft has won the 7 according to him, the sharks (Cowboys) are circling for Dearden as a result and Oates is dangerously close to being dropped altogether.

Oates won't see out the year as a Bronco I reckon. A fair amount of discontent from both parties going on there I think.

So in other words Dobbo is guessing like everyone else.

I wish there was a website that kept track of each major sport journo and gave them a % score out of how much of what they say turns out to be true.

Like Snopes mixed with Rotton Tomatoes

I've gotta say, if Dearden leaves because he isn't picked for round 1 and doesn't want to work for it or has his ego out of joint to the point he wants to leave, good riddance.

Yobbo essentially alluded to the fact that last year the club assured him we were building ourselves around him for the future, and now here he is fighting for a spot with Croft who admittedly was pretty shit last year, at least compared to Dearden.

Personally I think this Croft thing is a smokescreen and Dearden will be named.

Eluded alluded. Eluded starts with E so if you're meaning escaping then that's the right word. Allude starts with A , A for about.

If you go back and look at Oates highlights, his best was always staying put on the wing outside a legitimate centre like Jack Reed, getting passed the ball at full tilt, barging through like a steam train due to his size and pace, and putting the ball down in the corner. He was well above average reliable at catching any ball coming to him from his right at speed, and above average reliable at taking balls in the zone above most other players heads. He was better than anyone else in the competition at running over the top of an opponent close to their try line. He was above average capable of stopping an opponent from running over the top of him in the opposite situation. And he was super reliable at placing the ball down inside the corner peg without being bundled into touch.

But he was never that guy who dashed 50 metres to stop a runaway try, passed inside to put someone else away or stepped anyone. He wasn't the guy who snuffed out slippery speedsters. He was a one trick pony. But that one trick appeared on the scoreboard.

Fast forward and the modern Corey gets bored on the wing. He wanders inside, leaving gaping overlaps, and is two thirds of **** all use at preventing tries because of it. I've seen little evidence of him being able to step or defend, outside that last ditch effort in his own corner.

I don't see him as a centre and I'm dubious his big guy running at full tilt is going to be as successful when he's up against defensive forwards in the middle of the park.

Also if Kevvie leaves because they lose round one, **** him, good riddance. Same with Donaghy. If he leaves before he even starts, **** him. Good riddance. Also Cam Smith, if he doesn't sign because he's decided to retire **** him. Good riddance.
