Brodie Croft has been given the nod to partner Anthony Milford in the halves, while Herbie Farnworth has proven his fitness for Friday night’s season opener against Parramatta at Suncorp Stadium.

Croft and young playmaker Tom Dearden have both had big preseasons and were neck-and-neck to fill the No.7, but coach Kev Walters has leaned towards Croft’s experience and strong trial form for Round 1.

In the centres, Farnworth ran unhindered during today’s training session at the Clive Berghofer Field to show he has fully recovered from surgery to remove some painful tissue from his chest.

Playmaker Milford (hand) and prop Tom Flegler (shoulder) also trained strongly and will take their place in the 17 to take on the Eels.

Experienced middle forward John Asiata will make his Broncos debut off the interchange, while bullocking young forward Ethan Bullemor has been rewarded for a huge preseason with the final spot on the bench.

Friday night’s Round 1 clash with the Eels will be the first time since 2015 that members and fans get a chance to see the Broncos start a season on home turf.
Typical sloppy Bornocs they did eveything but list the actual team in the 'Team Announcement' post. Amateur hour goes on and on.
And subtle

have a look on NRL.com; half of the matches are like that (with not team list) ... including the Roosters

It's more the history of the Clydesdales and what brought Brisbane into disbanding the franchise in the first place. There's some merit into having the players play together but Melbourne have shown they can still be dominant while splitting their players up. There's no reason why the other Queensland teams can't succeed.
Really need to stop comparing Melbourne to anyone. They’re an anomaly that cheated to keep the 3 best players in the game.

I think this would irk young Tommy a bit, but yeh I don't see the need for this sort of shit.
I don't they would have taken photo shots of all the players like this in an action stance.

Or in other words, it doesn't suit your argument.

As I said, there's some merit to the idea but you'd have to look at why the Clydesdales folded and come up with a reason why things would be different now.

Off topic, but if you put all our reserves in the same team and they start winning every year how is that a bad thing for the Q Cup? Fans will flock to see Broncos players dominate and we learn how to be winners from a young age again.

I am not against it but there are a few issues that I would be sure the Broncos wouldn't take on.

The same problems still exist that made them stop- money- it costs a lot to run a ISC club, you have to do four grades and staff. When you can just keep players at their own club playing MM or ISC and not pay for it.

Time, Toowoomba trained separate to the Broncos, how would you run that now with your 30 man squad Coach would be sitting around doing nothing Monday-Saturday then just get 17 guys on Sunday.

How do you get 17 players each week, out of your 30 take out 17 and injuries.

Toowoomba didn't dominate either they won it twice- which is just as much as Bears and no where near as much as Dolphins (5).

Comparing what the Storm do doesn’t suit my argument because it’s literally impossible to replicate, legally.

I’m not necessarily saying the Clydesdales or a Broncos reserve grade team need to return, simply that our players need to be forming partnerships from a young age and learning how to be winners again. The club suffers from having their players not know each other. I’m not saying I have the answers either, but what we do now is not working.

Is Oates injured?

Man that guy's stock has dropped the last few seasons to be behind Mead. Not that i disagree, he has been horrible...

Don't think so, I think he played another trial last week didn't he?

Wow so Oatesy is totally out of the 21.

So happy to see Bullemor rewarded too!
Yeah the safe option would have been to have Oates in there in some capacity, it's a promising sign of Walters wanting his team, rather then just going with the expected one.
Yeah, he's a fucking dildo. Like I said earlier, he's a one trick pony and that trick (staying on the left wing, catching the ball, running straight and scoring) is a really good one. Bennett told him the same but he wouldn't listen. Now, because he knows better, he's in reserve grade where he belongs until he gets back to his knitting.
