Very happy with that result.

The tiring forwards in the secound half looks to be part of the new speed in the game there , no forward pack could keep a spring in their step after the epic repeat set tackling phases of that game. As soon as you go three sets in a row under the new rules on your line , you should be toast late in games by the looks of things.

If you compare the overall attitude lift , that was a gutsy win. It doesn't really matter if the Dogs are not the best at the moment , Brisbane take the mental boost by starting their season inside the top eight , depending on how results go they might sit in the top four.

Not getting carried away after one game , but when your team has been under the pump , proving to yourselves that you can dig in when the shyte comes down is a building block all clubs try to start out from.

Barba and Maranta had some critical touches in that game. Wingers who can defuse bombs under the new rules are more worthwhile team players i would hazard, teams are not going to be able to afford inconsistent Wing / Fullbacks defensively.....turn overs are killer in the secound half under the new rules.

im actually thinking hodges at five eighth would be a decent experiment. he mightn't be a playmaker but he can ball play and if hunt play a traditional 7 it will work. maybe keep the team as is until then at which point we drop maranta for hoffman. although reed hardly impressed this game.

oates can have the 17 to give the forwards fewer minutes.

So the big Question, when Hodges is back and the Hoffman 5/8 experiment inevitably fails, which two backs do we drop off? Maranta and Reed? There's going to be a backline selection headache real soon. And we still have Oates too. Our backline stocks are very well covered. Shame we have no halves.

It's a nice headache to have.

Based off tonight's performances, it's a hard decision.

Maybe like...

1. Hoffman
2. Vidot
3. Reed
4. Hodges
5. Copley
6. Barba
7. Hunt

17. Oates

Maranta was probably our best tonight, so it's hard to drop him really. I dunno... Up to you, Hook.

If backline plays like it did again tonight you drop reed and put Hoffman at centre. If maranta keeps this form he can't be dropped

you're forgetting Hodges, we'd need to drop Reed and someone else.
