What is with people's obsession with McGuire at hooker? Changing the whole team rotation to move a prop to hooker is mind baffling.

McGuire had a stint at 9 against the Sharks last weekend.
It's not as far fetched as you may think for him to play there next week.

Glenn Gets The News He Wanted - Broncos

ALEX Glenn has received some very good news on the calf muscle injury he suffered against the Sharks last Sunday.

While it was expected Glenn could be out for at least a month, the injury has settled down nicely this week.

Broncos’ medical staff now predict he could miss just one club game with the injury that ruled him out of the Kiwi Test squad.

He should be back on the field as early as the match against the Cowboys in Townsville on May 20.

“It looks to be a two-to-three week injury so it could have been worse,” said Broncos’ High Performance Manager Jeremy Hickmans.

“It is a calf tear but only a minor grading.

“He will have a couple of days off now and start rehabilitation on Friday.

“We will be looking to have him back for round 11.”

In other injury news, the Broncos are working hard to have Andrew McCullough back inside the six-week timeframe for the hamstring issue he is dealing with.

McCullough tore his hamstring at the knee after being awkwardly tackled against the Rabbitohs just under two weeks ago.

“Andrew should start running this week so we will see how he is going then,” said Hickmans.

Lachlan Maranta is getting closer with a knee injury suffered playing Intrust Super Cup, but could also be right for round 11.

Joe Boyce should be back from a shoulder problem next week, while Tom Opacic has overcome an eye socket fracture to resume playing for affiliate club the Redcliffe Dolphins.

Both could come into contention for the Broncos when they meet the Wests Tigers minus Origin stars on May 27 at Suncorp Stadium.

Glenn will miss the next 2-3 weeks with a torn calf.

I agree. Samoa did well while he was there. If memory serves me they only had narrow losses to NZ and England. Can't remember what happened in the game vs Oz.

Now that glenn is out for the game against manly, what do all you BHQ members think the team will look like? Would you just do the obvious thing and move Thaiday to second rower or would you keep him on the bench and bring someone else to the starting side? Is Sua ready?

I'd like to see Sam Thaiday start at second row, where he has a decent combination with Milford and for Bennett to blood an edge second row. Against South Sydney, we saw Wayne try and play Blair there and I thought Adam had one of his worst performances on the edge as he'd either over-run or fail to handle Milford's passing game. With Origin right around the corner, I'd prefer to see Wayne give a player like a Pangai Jr, S'ua or Greinke a shot.

As much as I rate Arrow, I still think you've got to persist with Ese'ese just to give him the reps he needs to play longer minutes against the Tigers.

EDIT: Provided Wayne decides to drop Waddell.

unfortunately going purely right takes Oates out of the equation ...

my first choice would be to punt Reed, but since that isn't going to happen ... I would switch Reed and Roberts, that would hopefully bring Roberts into the game more, and i would love to see Roberts linking up with Milf, the opposition wouldn't know what hit them

I remember the Thaiday try v Sharks. Milford moving right passes to Roberts out wide on the right who then cuts back in field and uses his speed to create an overlap on the left finished nicely by Boyd to Thaiday.

A good way to use the Milf-Roberts combination

Roberts needs to do that more often.

Do what Hodgo used to do and come over to the other side of the field every now and then. Give us that extra man on the left and look to use his speed and footwork to create something.

Yeah, it does seem like giving Roberts a license to roam could pay dividends. Boyd has everything we need in a fullback, but his style means he'll never be a Slater-like fullback. As the season progresses I think we'll see more offloads and Milford and Kodi are perfect to capitalise on a broken ruck, but I couldn't think of anyone better than Roberts to be trailing around the back of a play, ready for a sneaky inside ball as the defensive gets stretched.

This. Roberts can pass

Milf Mk II ... sort of. Just what we need

Don't worry people, it will happen. It's like has been mentioned by a fair few people on this forum: Why show our hand in round 10? Don't worry, it's coming.

Pangai Jnr is probably next in line I would say

So using wadell the way we did last week didn't change the whole team rotation? Did you watch the game? Trying to find the simplest solution without adding nuffies into the side is mind baffling to you?

I'm considering going to this but see there are only single seats and GA standing tickets. How does the GA standing actually work?

This game should be an interesting one...Eagles have somehow got back into the eight and the Broncos will want a win after last week but then we have the Cowboys the following week - hopefully both eyes stay on this game. Anyone going to the Cows game up in Townsville by the by?

I'll go up there for a look, I don't mind going to this game up there, it's usually packed out. I won't be too confident though the Cows are playing a fair bit above where we are currently.

Indeed. But Broncos will lift against the Cows. If we can lift our defence up to last years standards, we have a good chance at beating them at home..which would be sweet. I've just moved up to Townsville a few weeks ago, and they really are batshit crazy for the Cows up here. Hoping some fellow Broncos fans turn up to make some noise.

Predicting a 10+ victory against the Eagles.

Even without Macca, this team can beat anyone. We showed that in the 2nd half against the Sharks without Blair and Macca, against a team playing top 4 level football.

They just have to have the hunger, and never ever again be caught with their pants down.

Every team lifts against the (joint) premiership favourites. There are no excuses if we believe we can win this comp.

Conceding so many points in the first half against the Sharks will hopefully give the boys added hunger in defence. They know they can't take it for granted anymore: they have to work every minute of the game.
