POST GAME Round 10 - Sea Eagles vs Broncos

I'm sure Hook would've done it at some stage. Wasn't his debut, but I remember Wallace riding the bench for 3 games straight

Hook left Granville on the bench for a while season. At most he got 10min per game.

3) WAYNE Bennett opted out of playing bench forward George Fai last night, instead going for experience to help Brisbane get the win.
The Souths Logan product stayed on the bench for the entire match as Bennett rotated through his other forwards.
Bennett revealed afterwards he intended to play Fai, but when Brisbane had to fight back from 14-0 down, he thought it wasn’t the right time to give the young gun his debut.

Don't really understand this. He is either ready to play or he isn't.

DCE can go **** himself. He is now firmly in the same class as Gallen. Diving fairy.

Anyone got the highlights of this? I missed the game. Sure has people fired up. Did anything result from it?

You would think so, but Hook didn't 'blood' many players.

Players Blooded Under Hook
Jack Reed - Round 1 2011
Dane Gagai - Round 1 2011
Kurt Baptiste - Round 12 2011
Shea Moylan - Round 14 2011
Lachlan Maranta - Round 14 2012
Jarrod Wallace - Round 14 2012
Brendon Gibb - Round 14 2012
Aaron Whitchurch - Round 17 2012
Jake Granville - Round 10 2013
Corey Oates - Round 17 2013
Jordan Drew - Round 22 2013
Francis Molo - Round 11 2014

I saw Sam Thaiday's name mentioned, but he made his debut in Round 18 2003 as an 18-year old. I couldn't blame anyone for forgetting that performance, it was a forgettable night for the Broncos, 40-4 losers and Thaiday went off the field with an injury.

Unless I'm mistaken, I get the feeling the last Bronco to spend their 'debut' on the bench predates the last premiership.

Thaiday and Sins were awesome and so were those bombs from McCullough. We haven't put up a high spiral like that since Lockyer and it makes a big difference.

Pretty happy with the halves tonight. Milford should have had a try assist in the first half if Gillett doesn't knock that ball on and I thought he kicked pretty well. And Kodi seems to keep improving game after game.

Also I am all for McCullough kicking but not so often on the 4th, on a few occasions he put us straight on the back foot with his kicks, needs to be more selective when he kicks out of dummy half. In general he just needs to play smarter as he also bombed that try in the first half when he should have passed it but instead dummied and went himself.

I liked McCullough kicking from first receiver. Need to see more of that.
Kodi has been warming into his role fairly nicely.
Matt Gillett has been missing a lot of tackles in his last 2 games for the Broncs.
Disappointed Fai didn't get any game time.
Thaiday was gun off the bench.
Milford went well.
Moga wasn't shit.

Getting as many wins as possible until Origin penetrates us is awesome.

I think it is scary how good we could be when Milford hits top form and we have Roberts, TPJ and Hunt back with Kodi off the bench.

I don't see any issue with Macca's kicks on the 4th.

We were able to keep them pinned down their end as a result. They were lacking energy and the point of the kicks was to take advantage of that. On the 4th the wingers are generally up in the line so he was able to find grass in between the fullback and the winger.

Quite a few positives from this game.

Kodi definitely gaining confidence and consistently throwing nice passes. The one to Sims was a pearler.

The fowards continue to be very solid. I have really liked Sims and Blair all year. Sam was much improved last night after being a bit down on energy the last few weeks.

Moga was mostly very good. He can certainly make some good meters after contact. I am hoping he can be groomed into a really good centre.

It's great to have Boyd in our backline especially when we are in the red zone. He just seems to make things happen. He is playing with a lot of confidence ATM.

I am not a fan of kicking on early tackles from within our own half unless we are going for a boni fide 40 20 or a specific attacking kick eg kicking to an open winger.

Good win. Had a great night at the footy.

Don't really understand this. He is either ready to play or he isn't.

Yeah but it isn't as simple as that. There is no time for him to warm into the game and more importantly our forwards had the momentum and we were chasing points.

I am going to defend Macca here. Broncos were on top and Manly were out on their feet hence Manly were kicking for touch. Macca turning them around on the 4th caused their forwards not to get to too many rucks which nullified Tapau to an extent. I thought they were good decisions.
