PRE-GAME Round 10 - Sea Eagles vs Broncos

Last night was the first game I've attended in a while, and sitting on the sideline its shocking how predictable we are. As I said, our wingers and centers dont get any decent ball to attack with. They are just defending or taking hitups it seems to be mostly.

I think some of the criticism of Tommy is fair to a point, but without looking at the stats how we have him playing I would bet he is making a good 3 or 4 times the amount of tackles Robert's, Oates and Issako are. Its fairly clear he is there to take the load of Milf to me. It's crazy the way we use our outside backs right now

Yeah i think kevie leaving hasn't helped, he was in charge of our attack and now we look like lost sheep. I think it was a mistake to swap kevie and demetriou because our attack was great, but in saying that we were always going to struggle with no halfback. I agree about our backs , you just need to watch Melbourne play to see how they should be used.

Im going to this game, Hoping the Boys put on a show (Fingers Crossed)

I hope we spend the week training at the stadium.

I'm assuming you're talking about the early spreads inside their own half?? If so this was actually a tactic that I believe the broncos brought back in vogue and I'm not talking about 2015 it was waaaay way back and it was Wallace -> Lockyer -> Khunt when deep in our half to quickly get on the outside of the defence.

We have been trying that a couple times in recent years but the execution is horrendous. We tried it last night and instead of going through 3 sets of hands it went through about 5 or 6 including Offa who was passed the ball mistakingly and had to shovel it along to milf standing right next to him. End result was giving the ball to Jet who had a line of defenders in front of him.

Really hope dargan or Murphy kill it for norths on Saturday and tempt the master coach but we all know he is a stubborn man with better patience than us

Is this another one of Manly's "take our home game to Brisbane because our ground sucks and we're broke" events or is it actually our home game?

They may be disappointed to find the surface up here isn't much better than Brookvale atm.

pretty sure it is then Lang Park double header ... we are always the away team for this event.

In fact I loved Bennett's response to the media last year, when asked about how he felt about being in the away dressing rooms ... his response was a classic ...

"have you been to Brookvale ... we'll be fine" :porthozthinksthisishot:

Will have to see how Manly go this week, but this is another one I expect us to win and win well. This shit just has to click at some point...

..it has to.

I think I would like to see the team just throw caution to the wind for one game, just go nuts in attack and see what happens. Offloads galore, early chip and chase, just balls to the wall attack and see if it clicks. I wouldn't even mind a loss if they give it a go.

last night's back 5 tackle counts:

Boyd ... 7 tackles
Oates ... 3 tackles
Roberts ...5 tackles
Opacic ... 23 tackles
Isaako ... 7 tackles

so Opacic made more tackles than the rest of the back 5 combined

I don't really have a horse in this race, but how many missed tackles did he make and how many did Milf/Glenn make who are on that side of the field? That would give us a bit more of an indication of how he went. The Dogs went that side all night (with success), so he was always going to have made more tackles.

Opacic missed only 1 tackle.

Milford made 12 missing 2
Glenn made 26 missing 1

I don't know if I'm a bit off on this, but isnt that a lot of tackles for a center? I did notice a fair bit he was swapping positions in defence with Milf.

Haas wont be playing. Could be out for 4 weeks

He goes looking for work, I like it.

100% need Kodi playing bench 9. I think he is much more affective when he gets his hands in the ball more and just waits to see opportunities. I think his attach is more organic at 9 rather than getting the ball at 7 and having to make something happen. His speed from dummy half also adds much needed impact for us. I was shocked that this didn’t happen last night especially since Macca just returned from injury.

Yeah, agreed, he played his best footy as an impact hooker. I don't even think McCullough needs to go off (though I wouldn't mind him playing less minutes but being more effective in attack), you can have two dummy halves on the field for those scooting runs.
