Failed to fulfil their potential = washed up.Who said anything about being washed up?
Milford doesn't get to survive off potential anymore. On form, he should have lost his spot to Tyson Gamble of all people, Milford "potentially" would have played exactly the same way he was playing, lazy, uninterested, not making tackles, not getting involved and would be playing for South's Logan while Gamble is partnering Reynolds at the Broncos all year.Yep ...for sure you can't begrudge the decision to let him go.
I thought Kevie might have given him one last shot .....on a reduced deal, knowing that Reyno was coming and he was the type of player that should suit Milfords game to a tee....ultimately benefiting the entire team greatly. I still think its been one of Walter's poorer decisions. I was surprised and disappointed. Kevie usually doesn't mind taking a risk...the potential for Reynolds and Milford to do big things was great......
I thought and still think, he should have rolled the dice.
I prefer this possibility......its more thinking towards the future. Mead most likely won't go around again after this year. Why not use the opportunity to explore Selwyn at the back.
TMM slots straight back in when fit.....
I said they have failed to fulfil their potential, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. The last part of that sentence indicates that they could still in fact reach their potential, I just don't personally see it happening. Might help to read the entire sentence next time instead of selectively choosing bits and pieces. If you think they will reach their potential, good on you for having more faith in them than me. Ponga might have more chance, but the moment he re-signed with Newcastle I began having doubts. Milford on the other hand has too many bad habits and holes in his game to be truly elite in my opinion.Failed to fulfil their potential = washed up.
You've got every right to say that.....I can't argue against it.Milford doesn't get to survive off potential anymore. Having Milford stay would have led to us still having holes in our defense, a 6 that doesn't want to get involved and would have hindered anything good Reynolds would have brought to the club. Walters did the right thing by letting him go, actually benefiting the team instead of "potentially" benefiting them if everything worked out perfectly for Milford, which it wouldn't have because he'd still be out on the Pokies until 3am and drinking soft drink and eating Maccas all week. I am glad Walters didn't roll the dice and instead rolled the fat prick elsewhere. Milford sucked for us and that's all there is to it. He needed to go.
Can relate! Hope he feels better soon, probably feels he's lost some family/close community. They haven't said much, just that he's having some personal issues but the rumours going around are that he's not in a very good head space and he's struggling to cope.
How ridiculous! It's ALWAYS more than four missed tackles...I just hope we see the full Milf repertoire, a few kicks finding the fullback on the full, a few kicks out for a set of 7 restar. A few aimless circular runs tryikng to pick up a straight runner and then being tackled. Maybe an intercept pass for Cobbo to run the length. At least 1-2 missed tackles on a second rower running a line.
Fair 'nuff.I said they have failed to fulfil their potential, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. The last part of that sentence indicates that they could still in fact reach their potential, I just don't personally see it happening. As much as I disliked Milford's attitude as a player in the last few years I can see your point given it's a different Milford, humbled and desperate. A different attitude would make the matter viable. The management aren't less able to see what we see and my money is on them considering it but passing, perhaps agreeing with us but having another very good reason to decline.Yep ...for sure you can't begrudge the decision to let him go.

That is all true, but the sudden return to form for Milf if I am being cynical was caused by his need to find another bunny (boom tish) to sign him. His attitude and fitness improved in that period leading up from about round 18-19 onwards when he was looking for a new club. You've got every right to say that.....I can't argue against it.
I do think you aren't being 100% honest though.
It was no surprise to see the team improve substantially over the last 3-4 games in 2021, when Milford came back into the team and showed glimpses of what he is capable of. If you are being honest you'll admit that Milfords poor form whilst 100% on him....was exacerbated by the team playing/combining like utter shit during 2020/21.
You're smart enough to know that its very difficult for a half to remain in good form when the rest of the team is playing like crap. You also have to admit...the entire club was a clusterfuck.
Yep Milford was off. He wasn't alone.....
Except retention no longer is Kevvies sole responsibilityYep ...for sure you can't begrudge the decision to let him go.

I’m torn between highly respecting Kev’s lack of ego about asking his players who to pick and feeling like he should be more assertive.Walters:
“I’m 90 per cent sure Te Maire will play. We’re going to check him on Wednesday but he is getting better each day. We are pretty confident he will be right. We’ve got a couple of options if he doesn’t play. I am split and need to talk with Reyno, Capes and the other coaches."“We will either move Cobbo and bring Jordan Pereira on the wing or we can leave Cobbo where he is and bring David Mead in to play fullback."“David hasn’t played for five or six weeks but he is very safe and I like the idea of leaving Cobbo where he is with Kotoni. I don’t want to complicate his life too much. We will make a decision on Wednesday.”“We’ve got a lot of respect for what the Knights are doing. You’re only as good as your last game and they had a win. They’ve got some players coming back which breeds confidence. For us it’s about maintaining and getting better each week. We won two games and then lost four straight not too long ago. We’ve got to maintain what we’re doing. A few guys have got some more footy in them which we need to bring out.”
I think he may have, but then it was put out that milford's manager was shopping him for 600k (not surprisingly no other teams were interested at this price either) and Milford had a few poor performances.Yep ...for sure you can't begrudge the decision to let him go.
