POST GAME [Round 11, 2023] Broncos vs Storm

“If the Bunker had been in any doubt about all three elements, they should have placed it on report, but Carrigan should not have been sin-binned.

I think this will be the start of the hip drop wind down and players will not be sent for 10 minutes anywhere near as often as they have been. Shame Brisbane had to be the turning point.

Aren't we always?

Not just Brisbane, but Pat in particular. Copped the season-defining penalty last year which no-one has had before or since, and now a game-defining unwarranted sin bin which will possibly mark the walk back. It's disgusting. I've been saying it for a couple of years now but this game is just about destroyed for me.

I like it but honestly you can get rid of diving in one simple step without having to go that far.

All they have to do is make it so the bunker is ONLY permitted to rule on tries and captains challenges. They are FORBIDDEN to intervene at any other time.

The only reason players dive is to get the bunker involved, take away that possibility and the diving problem is solved, as no player will stay down and risk losing momentum for their team if there is no chance they gain an advantage. (Unless they are genuinely hurt of course)
Agreed. Any missed infringements can be handled after the game via the MRC

Oh and #14 offside on Coates' second kick for their last try then is one pressuring Walsh (along with Munster) who fumbles:

1683940745833

Again there's just milliseconds in it, but again it went against us.

Carrigan's tackle last year was one of the very few actual hip drops that should be penalised. The 3 we've copped this year have been ridiculous.

I think you are correct on all accounts really. Especially the Walsh strip. No idea why they didn’t just wait 3 more second on the quick tap and send it to the bunker rather than calling it back.

That being said, Melbourne were probably robbed 2 tries also and they got the Herby penalty try wrong too.

No idea why Flegler and Pene were binned for a push and shove, and they’ve admitted the Patty send off was wrong.

The game was so poorly reffed on all accounts that we are only the victims because we lost. If we had won, and we could have, the storm would have a right to feel equally dudded.

The result and score is entirely meaningless because there was at least 3 send offs and about 4 tries that were wrong. The NRL should just give both teams 1 point and an apology

Players have dived since the game began. It's not since the Bunker and some new phenomenon.

This is why Bill Harrigan is the best Ref of all time:

He just understood the game

Essentially a fight happened off the NSW **** bailey and he said to both Bailey and Webcke: ''you got it out of your system, that's good lets play a game a footy'' penalty to us.

How good is it to see the touchies in making a report to the ref who makes a call on the spot instead of the nonsensical bunker bullshit where we have to look at the incident over and over again and then they still get it wrong.

True enough...but I think its also fair to say that it has increased to a new level, since the bunker/review system.

NRL players are now starting to rival soccer players when it comes to taking a dive to feign injury.

I think that is on the game though, they should be pushing hard on touch and OZ tag, because for decades now they know this is the barrier to entry when it comes to this sport, once they get to 15-16 they get a mans body and it's not an issue anymore and plenty of players have proven this is a viable path for first grade especially for spine positions.

There isn't much skill in tackle in the young ages which are dominated by islander kids who have a mans body by age 10.

if NRL used their huge TV deal money to invest in a strategy around this it would pay massively within 10 years I think the player pool would multiply ten fold.

Even more so if they also get a professional 2nd tier which is another crucial thing needed going forward.
Junior RL should be going back to weight divisions.....

You guys are the only ones who think the Broncos were rorted. Flegglers bullshit after playing the ball was clearly an infringement and that was a no try. Olam should have been awarded a try for Walsh's clear shoulder charge. The sin bin is the only thing that went the wrong way IMO. Otherwise you guys were reffed to stay in that game. The scoreline flatters the Broncos. You should be concerned about that messaging from Kevvie. These young guns will drop their heads now they think the NRL is after them.

Well actually there were 3 fcking sin bins .
Obviously you need to visit spec savers if you think Walsh shoulder charged . And Olam shoulder charged but nothing was said .

Yes Broncos got some penalties early . That flipped in the 2nd half though .

Patty getting sin binned but not charged by the MRC and 6 to 1 in 6 again was what Kev was pissed about .

Walsh was 100% a shoulder charge clown, take your biased glasses off.
The reffing was poor for both sides, just more for the Broncos.

I'll be honest. There was a little trolling in my post. I cam here to see what you guys thought of the game, because I genuinely think the game was a bludger, some poor calls went both ways. But then I saw I was called out in another thread without even saying anything...AGAIN. So I thought **** it.

Anyway, this is the start of your toughest part of the draw. This period will be a true test.
TLDR ...
