POST GAME [Round 11, 2024] Broncos vs Sea Eagles

Yep touchies thieving a paycheck as usual... but the high shot penalty that was actually high is the controversy for the night 🙄🙄

Only because their coach said it was. But let’s be honest, that penalty to Mariner was a joke but that’s on the NRL for turning this game into soccer. 9 times out of 9.5 now the player who stays down ‘wins’ a penalty.

I thought he was good last night. I dont think that his kicks are as good as Mams though. They just lack height and depth sometimes.

I thought Mams kick on the left side was extremely good. High, well placed and exactly what our kick chasers were used to.

Less pressure when Ezra kicked .
He looked like he could run / pass / kick . Jock was only ever going to kick and had more pressure on him .
Jock did hit that 1st bomb sweet though . DCE tried a few they didn`t come off like he would have liked .

Fox reporting that Manly scored off a line ball pass ? Really? If that is considered line ball I’d hate to see what they call a forward pass.

Pies says it was a soft penalty that cost them the game. It was a soft ….no a shit call penalty against Staggs for taking the player over the touch line while the tackle was obviously not yet complete that changed the game’s momentum.
It was a shit penalty against Mariner for tackling too hard that kept Manly on the attack.

What about the phantom 6 agains? What about Mariner being tackled without the ball when Staggs made that break? What about the crusher on Staggs which saw the Manly player placed on report but no penalty to us coz Staggs never laid down like a soccer bitch?

What about Garrick bombing a try by kicking ahead only for it to go over the sideline?

Yeh FOX Manly were the better side and should have won, right OK.
Oh they were missing Tommy turbo they said. Well we were missing Reynolds, Walsh, Walters (3/4 of our spine no less), Jesse Arthurs and Tristan Sailor were also out so we had to move Cobbo and bring in a rookie with less than 24 hours to prepare, but not a word said about that.

That game was so warped by ‘poor’ decisions from the ref that Manly were given ample chances to win and despite the added assistance were still unable to get past a Broncos team running on sheer Kevvie will power.

Such a gritty grinding win against all odds deserves a bit more respect and recognition but what do you expect from a Sydney centric media?
Commentators? More like NSW cheerleaders!
Said everything I wanted to say.

The Staggs penalty dragging the player over the line was disgusting. All momentum and never stopped, how can that be called Held?

I literally lost count of the forward passes they got away with, and the 6 agains just killed us.

Yes we could look at ourselves a bit and say we’re our own worst enemy sometimes with loose carries and dumb plays in good areas but man, we’ve got plenty of guts and determination.

How we won that when it was obvious that the ref was wearing his ‘I ❤️ Manley’ t-shirt, well, I have no idea.

Do we have anythign to be concerned about re Piakura on report for a crusher? I didn't see any replays of it.
Dont even remember it but it cant have been worse than the one Staggs copped

just on the Garrick break where he kicked it over the sideline ... Gus is correct, Madden deserves plenty of credit for stopping that try.

he's come from the other side of the field and put himself in a position to prevent Garrick passing back inside to DCE, which would have been a certain try.

the pass option being blocked by Madden forced Garrick to make a different decision (and he made the wrong one)

Madden is showing to be a very intelligent player. Growing in confidence too. Yet to be seen if he has the physical attributes to be a long term option but he’s progressing well.

I hope this extended period allows him to take more ownership of the team and start barking orders more.

Question. If madden kills it what do we do once Reynolds back?

Obviously Reynolds comes back to the 7, not the question. But given Reynolds is playing on 1 leg recently and we are much more likely to lose due to in game injuries then anything else this year, is madden a chance on the bench? He could easily cover hooker for 20 mins, could keep Reynolds even fresher for the finals when we have wrapped up games and he has an early shower, plus for mam who looks to be regularly be playing injured.

He`s quick across the ground .
I can see him scoring a lot of tries Terry Lamb style by just backing up breaks and offloads .

I would say straight back to Q Cup to continue patiently awaiting his next opportunity

This is what is exciting with Madden at halfback if he continues to progress as he is. Once him, Mam and Walsh gel, you have speed in your spine. Add to that Mozer is quick too, our potential spine would be a nightmare for oppositions with the running game alone. Then with guys like Haas, Piakura, Riki, Xman, Cobbo and Mariner, you have speed just about everywhere. We can punch through the middle or side to side, either way we do it, we are going to be tiring teams out.

I assume the NRL had no issues with Todd Smith’s game?

I know right. So many other contentious calls..but ...it was the penalty which was a bit harsh.
Mind you it was a bit soft but according to the rules it was high and he made contact with the head so what's the issue with it I wonder?

Just felt like we were losing the metre and possession game again last night. Hard watch after the first 2 tries.
