Round 11 - Bulldogs vs. Broncos - Post Match Discussion

we just dont seem to gel as a team. the timing is rarely there. runners are either ahead of behind the play or there is no support at all.

macca cant throw a pass out of dummy half which kills half our attack when we are close ot the line. halves are CONSTANTLY having to stop or jump up to catch the ball and it just kills it.

we've got the ability in the side its just not happening or being used correctly.

at this point im hoping for a reverse of last year. start slow and come home strong.

We were monstered.

So much one out running, we only seem to have a passing game in the opposition 20.

I'll take Prince over Hunt still. We have such little structure around the edges.

Errors and atrocious goal line defense cost us.

Simple really.

Although there's not really much else Macca and Granville could do when trying to tackle Kasiano and Tolman 1-on-1 on the goaline. Some support to tackle would have been nice I suppose.

Not to mention that the defence has already moved up at least 3 or 4 extra metres in the time it takes for him to get the ball to a half (who is standing still waiting for it to arrive like a late bus) and start running again. I mean I've always thought our halves were shitty, but maybe I should give them the benefit of the doubt until they actually play with someone who gets them quick ball when they want it.

Back to the same old Broncos. Lethargic defense, largely unimaginative attack.

Is it that Hunt doesn't get himself involved, or do they just not go to him? Been disappointed that he hasn't done more with this opportunity.

Granville wasn't as impressive this week, but I still would have liked him to have gotten more minutes. He does add a spark when he's on.

Great way to ruin a weekend, watching that game...

Oh can we not go into this 'we haven't signed the 4-5 players on the market, we're not buying anybody' agenda for one week, please?

FFS I wasn't saying that. All I'm saying is something needs to change and has had to for a few years. I'm not saying we should have bought any of the available this year, but we have been missing that one player for a whir and haven't done anything about.

But you know what Pete, that's just my opinion, next time ill ask you if it's ok to express it and if its in line with 'what you wanna hear' before posting yeah?

And the point is every single time, just because we haven't signed TC, Widdop or Reynolds it doesn't mean we're not signing anybody.

And yeah, that's be fantastic because we really don't need to hear about it everytime the Broncos lose.

I think we are missing a big bopper in the forward pack. Thaiday doesn't cut it in the front row

We missed Hannant. Though I don't know if even he could have stopped Graham and Tolman tonight. Maybe if he replicated his Cowboys performance.

Geez you guys are hard markers.

They defended the house down in the first half and would have had a bit more in attack if the dogs didn't get away with so much in the ruck. In the first half the only dogs try after a mountain of good opportunities came after a lucky regather from Barbara.

In the second half they made some errors at the wrong time in wet conditions. Couple if huge calls went against them in the 2nd half that ch 9 didn't even bother to replay. Really annoys me when they do that. Also QLD commentators (eg Wally) do nothing to keep Gus and Rabs honest on these calls. Barely a word said when a Barba high tackles prevents Maranta scoring in the first half.

Dogs deserved to win, but plenty of positives from the broncos effort. They are probably a couple of big bodies short at the moment, especially in the wet. Hala looked good when he came on.

Coulda sworn Glenn injured himself. Looked like a wrist or elbow to me and wouldn't be surprised if he's out for a bit.

I think you are spot on. Seriously missed. And Thaiday was, and always will be a back rower.

I think that's the point. Our hooker shouldn't be making 1 on 1 tackles against a prop on our try line. Wallace was right to get hooked for the first one. He should have jammed in.

Anyone bagging McCullough's effort tonight dead set has an agenda against McCullough. He was one of our best, made plenty if metres from dummy half & had the forwards going forward. He can't be blamed for Norman dropping the ball! Also, hunt turned the back 3 around on almost every kick - he had a great game. IMO the no call on Barba's high tackle set us back the whole game. We were dead set in, should have been a penalty. I know we should have shown enough to fight back from there, but it was a real kick in the guts.

I'm not going to derail a thread, so whatever Pete you win
