Round 11 - Bulldogs vs. Broncos - Post Match Discussion

Too many errors and some poor goaline defence plus the refs raped us. Our forwards couldn't get a roll on because the Dogs were all over the play the ball. It was mainly Ennis. McCullough is about as useful as tits on a bull. Maranta should have scored that early try when he got coat hangered by Barba.

Loved Halas impact, came on and gave us some go forward. Needs some cardio work tho lol

Geez you guys are hard markers.

They defended the house down in the first half and would have had a bit more in attack if the dogs didn't get away with so much in the ruck. In the first half the only dogs try after a mountain of good opportunities came after a lucky regather from Barbara.

In the second half they made some errors at the wrong time in wet conditions. Couple if huge calls went against them in the 2nd half that ch 9 didn't even bother to replay. Really annoys me when they do that. Also QLD commentators (eg Wally) do nothing to keep Gus and Rabs honest on these calls. Barely a word said when a Barba high tackles prevents Maranta scoring in the first half.

Dogs deserved to win, but plenty of positives from the broncos effort. They are probably a couple of big bodies short at the moment, especially in the wet. Hala looked good when he came on.

Why can't I like this post? Great post!

Maranta can't run without a head. High shots tend to stop you pretty quick

Anyone bagging McCullough's effort tonight dead set has an agenda against McCullough. He was one of our best, made plenty if metres from dummy half & had the forwards going forward. H

That's not his downfall. It's when we are on the attack and he has to pass to the halves. He is the slowest in the league at it, and you really want your halves to have as much time as possible if they are to actually create something. That's what's killing us.

Otherwise, same shit. Monstered in the forwards, boring attack, shitty goal kicking. I think I'm done with hook. We're not gonna win, let them go nuts to see what we actually have go work with in attack

Is there a reason why they didn't have a player in the bin when Granville made that break then had it blatantly stripped out?

That close to the line Maranta really shouldn't have been that high. Why he wasn't ducking to the ground I don't know. It's the kind of try a proper finisher but otherwise derp player like Ash Graham would have scored.

We certainly got smashed through the middle. Our forwards never got a quick play the ball why the Bulldogs got quick play the balls all day long.

I can't really blame the forwards for getting smashed when there is no decoys or deception of any type around the rucks. Griffin just has them playing too physical a game, the D knows who is getting the ball and we get hammered accordingly.

Those 2 tries on our line were too soft to be true, a good side would have condensed the line but twice we let small guys get isolated, No talk?

We really lack a focal point in attack particularly from dummy half, as big a scummer as Ennis is he knows what he wants to do and has a plan on how to get over the line.

Agree Granville was average tonight but did enough to persist with. When he gets it right his work is crisp and faster than Maccas. At the least it may give Macca a wake up call.

Yep Morris should have went for a sit down without a doubt. Just one of the many poor decisions from the refs tonight.

Please...nobody can blame McCullough for our loss tonight. His service to the halves was fine. It's not like he had a lot of opportunities to give it to them in good position in the 2nd half! Absolute joke to give it to McCullough.

We aren't playing to our strengths, we have an agile back row but get used as battering rams like they are built like Webcke

Really good point. Isn't that what Hodges got 10 for earlier in the season?

We had momentum at the end there, repeat sets, Bulldogs tired. One of our players was being pushed towards the sideline. ref calls held like 4 times, Bulldogs keep pushing. Bronco throws the ball away and they eventually get him for putting his foot in to touch. Gus in his infinite wisdom says 'The refs should probably have called held there". THE REF DID! Bulldogs feed. Fast forward, Bulldogs get the ball, roll away, Pritchard slaps it out... you know the rest.

We're playing terribly but we keep coming within winning distance in every game. It's just those moments where something doesn't go our way and everyone loses their bundle. That, and moments when your fullback has their back to the opposition when they're on your goal line. Seriously, watch the Tolman try. Reynolds (I think) gets close, and Norman doesn't realise it's a quick PTB and wanders with his back turned to behind the goal line. Just as the pass is thrown to put Tolman 1-on-1 against Granville. The kid has no heart and is already coveting his first Eels paycheck.

Looking back at many of the tries we have scored this season, against the strongest teams, you wonder why the game plan isn't focused on doing just that.

We cannot organize ourselves.
