Incumbent captain Jake Turpin giving nothing away:

“If Albert Kelly is getting picked there, he brings a wealth of experience. He’s played in England and wherever else. He’s setting the house on fire in QCup so if he comes into the team, we have full confidence he will do the job.”

Jason Hetherington's one of those players I love playing with. If he comes into the side this weekend, it’s going to be fun playing with him. I’m really excited for him, he’s one of my good mates. He’s one of those players, that if he’s next to you, you know he’s not going to let you down. He’s tough as nails and he puts everything on the line each and every run and each and every tackle. He’s like a little mongrel. He rips in and as I said before, he’s that player you really want to play with and everyone’s so excited if he does get that opportunity.”

Meanwhile, over at the bizarro Broncos:

apparently the Dragons want the Tigers to pay a significant portion of Mbyes contract before they take him .. might explain why they're pessimistic

Jason?

I’ve seen him recently, don’t think he’s in shape TBH. Probably an upgrade on our current 9 stocks though...

If all of these ins and outs are true, it is another question mark on Kevvie.

**** off, Storm fan.. He's ours. Storm can get fucked. They add nothing positive to this game at all

Way to miss the point, for a long while the Storm have found and got much better use out of ISC players than the Broncos.

"Ours' you didn't even known his name until he was named today.

I think you'll find they actually have 13 tries between them, 8 to Coates and 5 to Isaako.

I'm not counting the conversion points with any relevance because you need tries before you can worry about goals. That's not to discount Isaako's contribution overall, but when I talk about creating points I'm talking about getting over the try line.

Isaako's been good there too and he's actually having a pretty good year, but I don't think he's the consistent attacking threat that someone like Staggs or Coates is at this stage.
Mmm, I get it but wingers are usually finishers and not creators. Coates may be getting over the line but his are largely on the back of others. Isaako's tries are largely his own efforts. As an attacking threat it's hard to argue Coates is the greater threat or more creative especially as Isaako has 4 try assists where he's put Coates and others in. No matter, it's good to have three ( when Staggs returns )

Personally, i think he is in a bit of a no win situation. people complain when he makes changes, but if he didn't we would see the old "He's accepting mediocrity" or "he won't hold players accountable for their performances"

of the 3 speculated changes i agree with 2 of them.

Hethrington to replace the suspended Riki - a reward for good form in the ISC and gives him a taste of first grade, hopefully he re-signs very shortly

Milford dropped, Kelly in - Milford is unlikely to get offered a new contract and Kelly has been carving up in the ISC. good chance to see if he still has it at this level

Oates dropped for Mead - don't agree with. while Mead was one of our best in the early rounds, Oates has been good since being recalled IMO. i probably would have dropped Coates as he is gone at seasons end

Yeah this is probably what I was thinking truth be told. I don't agree with Oates being dropped, he has been trying his butt off and took being dropped on his chin. He got burned for pace last week, so be it. He was much better than Coates and he will be here next year. Why keep developing Coates for Melbourne if he isn't earning his place?

surely turpin is on thin ice too

Stupid stupid, don't drop your halves, let them have time to develop a partnership. Why drop Oates? He's been very good for us since he's come back to first grade.

Kev doesn't seem to have any sort of plan, all very reactive. Not liking what I see
Well has he... I love the bloke but he can’t score to save his life and he is just to vulnerable under the high ball... at least Mead won’t get gassed... plus it shows the broncos are moving on which in my opinion they have to
