POST GAME [Round 12, 2023] Broncos vs Panthers

He's still got big plays in him no doubt, but his defemce really sucks now. Another 8 missed tackles tonight, Martin kept running over him
I think That's on Kevvie though, He clearly isn't a 80 min edge anymore, need a edge bench player imo.

We already have two huge min Middles with Carrigan and Haas we can handle it.

Plenty of effort.
Maam and Staggs were both terrible.
Walsh was rocks and diamonds.
We have so many stupid errors in us, we just will not compete against top teams executing like that.

We’ll drop out of the top 4 on the back of this and rightly so.

Our halfback stocks need some work because without Reynolds we have very few points in us.
We are well in the top 4 with byes excluded. We just competed for 80 minutes, the difference a 50-50 call on heatheringtons loose carry and Walsh's obstruction on peachey and we win. If that's the best team in the comp, we are right up there. 56% possession and they only scored two tries...

A good effort without our captain, half and kicker.

I have never seen an onfield ref over rule a video ref. Whether right or wrong not dodgy at all! If Gee was so sure why go to the video ref?

The first try was a double movement even considering the rule change. If he didn't lift and promote the ball he may not have made the tryline and was also possibly into touch.

I'm no Billy Walters fan but he again out played Paix.

Can Walsh go one game without any errors? Did some good things at the end but when the ball is on the ground near our tryline it's your job to dive on it not attempt some miracle pick up and 100 m try.

Capewell again was a passenger and shouldn't be in the starting side.

After that whinge though big effort to hold Penrith who put a cricket score on the Roosters especially missing Reynolds. Take Cleary out of the Penrith team who's kicking just trapped us near our line and we would have won that.

I was getting off on our forwards going after Fisher Harris and Leota and giving it to them.

41% possession and 700 less running metres than their opposition. Teams usually lose by 40 with these sort of stats and the Broncos would have lost by 50 only two short years ago.

Full credit to Kevvie for assembling a really good football side here. They may not win it this year (or maybe they will) but a title is looming in the very near future.
Just need an assistant that can run the bench…because he has shown he clearly has zero fucking idea how to do it.

I can handle the loss, but can’t understand Kevin’s use of the bench. Leaving Taupau on when he was struggling lead to Cleary’s try. Killing me.

I actually didn't mind the decision to play Carrigan for that length of time. I didn't think there were any obvious signs he had to come off and he seemed to find 2nd, 3rd and 4th winds. He was the captain and it seemed like he made it a point to lead the team tonight.

The Taupau one was disappointing. Should have come off for an HIA when he fumbled the ball. That was absolutely free and they paid the price for not taking it.

I just cant see why we need to have him playing that long though. Sooner or later he isnt going to be able to keep finding a 2nd, 3rd or 4th wind. I do feel we are running him into the ground.

Our boys can hold their heads high, a lot of positives from that game, don't let the naysayers sway you.

The Positives:
- Penrith were all over us for large parts of that game, they were basically perfect and we didn't let them get away
- Turuva's try was a 50/50 their way
- Sorensen's no try was a 50/50 our way
- Walsh's no try was a 50/50 their way
- Staggs no try was a 50/50 their way
- Law of averages shows they benefitted more of the crucial 50/50s than we did
- We could well have been leading that game had two of their 50/50s had gone the other way, this was a really tight game
- Our defense is excellent, we would have won more than we would have lost with that effort tonight
- We look so good when throwing it around
- Madden was actually pretty impressive for a second gamer in a team on the back foot against the best team in the comp, definitely something to build on there, he didn't let anyone down
- Mam was poor but he kept showing up and that commitment is amazing, he'll win us a comp or two
- Walsh was rocks or diamonds but he almost pulled out the play of the decade if Mam just reacted slightly quicker
- Our forwards held their own
- Cleary was the difference, having Reynolds back will help offset that
- Throw Oates back in there and that would have helped so much, we really missed his metres, just look at what Penrith's backs do
- We are a genuine contender

I think capewell is lacking fitness. He just looks so slow and exhausted in defence. Wondering who they put there for him. Piakura isn't really bashing the door down to play NRL.

Jock Madden reminds me exactly of Brodie Croft. It’s uncanny

Look, great that we hung in there and some questionable no tries each way but our execution is just so shit. Mam cost us two tries tonight and isn't really doing anything other than being a support player. He's still young but he's testing my patience.

Staggs is repeating his slump from early last year. Herbie was mighty with his runs but never, ever passes the ball. Like previous posters said Walsh is rocks or diamonds.

We'll never win the comp being flashy.

That would be nice, but we’ll lose Reynolds after next year and quite possibly Haas too. We’ve already lost Herbie and Flegler after this year.

I think we’re as close now as we’re going to be for a long time. Unfortunately, in reality, I don’t think we’re all that close.

Solid top 8 if we keep going this year and don’t give up as we did last year and that’s about it.

Gutsy in defence.
Staggs and Mam went missing again tonight.
Said it before and I’ll keep saying it, life after Reynolds doesn’t look good. The club really need to sort it, it needs to be a priority. I wouldn’t be shocked to see reyno miss a bit of footy over the next 18 months.
Go after either hunt or walker.
Hunts even older than Reyno my dude.

Apart from the great effort in defence every other part of our game ranged from BRL quality to bang average. Put in all that effort in defence on the line to be fucken hopeless everywhere else and it’s a bit deflating for them to be honest. I can’t see more than 4 blokes playing origin and I think the 4th being Capewell hopes are hanging by a thread. So as long as the forwards role up the sleeves and make some metres next week it hopefully will be a turn around but it’s the toughest road trip and the wahs are in form. It’s fucked scheduling that of all teams we are the ones versing the warriors this week. Roll the sleeves up and let’s **** em up.
