POST GAME [Round 12, 2024] Broncos vs Titans

I think some of you are listening a bit too much to the awful Fox commentary team.

The Titans had missing:
Foran, Boyd, Tino, J.Fifita, Brimson, Campbell and Sami

We had missing:
Staggs, Reynolds, Arthars, Hoeter, Sailor, Pereira and Te Kura

I'm not trying to downplay how bad today's performance was but even so, we are running on empty and our depth has been decimated, need a rest desperately to let some of the niggles improve. The Titans played well but the biggest thing aside from our awful defense today was that the Titans got every single 50/50 and 75/25 call they could have got. If even one of those calls went out way, we probably win even playing as bad as we did.
Cmon man. That’s 8 starters they’re missing to our 3. Sure we’ve got injuries but they’ve been decimated by them. I wish our team played with half the ticker the titans did today!

Pathetic performance, no energy or line speed at all, fell off tackles, couldn’t wrap the ball up, they obviously didn’t want to be there or didn’t want to work hard for it. The titans were free to make 60m most sets which put them in position for an attacking kick each time, we didn’t put hem under any kick pressure at all. It’s been coming, all these lazy efforts have been creeping into our game over the last few weeks and it all came out today in front of a big home crowd in a local derby against a side they should have walloped. Should be absolutely embarrassed.

It’s becoming clear too that when we need a lift we have no one to look to, there’s no one in our pack that has that intimidation factor about them, someone to put on huge hit or a violent run, I was hoping wilison could be that for us, but it doesn’t look like it at this point.

Would have to be up there with the worst games we’ve played under kevvie imo.

Kevie has his work cut for him this year. This is test for his coaching abilities. We've got the talent, but that's about it.

We couldn't handle the titans speed in defence or attack. We kept getting turned around, inside out, and looking stupid. We can score points, but a lot of soft tries put on us. 2023 Broncos are no more.

A number of teams are getting it together. Broncos definitely not one of them. If anything, we are going backwards each game we play. I shudder to think what we'll be by round 20.

You have it completely backwards, they've called it as they did today for years. Any touch is a knock on.

That's how it was ... Before they changed the interpretation years ago.

They put the onus back on the attacking player, similar to what they do with strips ... I.e. loose carry ruling.

As long as the defender was making a legitimate attempt at a tackle, and not deliberately playing at the ball, the ruling has gone in favour of the defender.

That's because each game we play we add to our casualty ward

I must be living in Bizarro world because I think it's the exact opposite and every one of those calls today was correct and has been consistently called that way for years.

In any case I can't imagine blaming the refs for an effort like today lol

I think you're confusing strips with passes, they've been consistent on this even in recent years where it would make no sense for the defender to be playing at the ball.

Remember Souths got a get out of jail free call against the Broncos when Cook threw a desperate offload on the fifth and just happened to graze Farnwroth when Herbie was making the tackle. It gave Souths all the possession they needed and the game swung in their favour.

Why wasn't Fifi penalised for not playing the ball on the correct spot.

He was told 3 times to re play the ball.

Only if you haven't been watching rugby league for the last 5 odd years.

With the Jock one I certainly don't get the explanation of them seeing if the Titans player had passed.
No I have been watching mate, and every time I've seen the ball get contacted by the defender in the act of making a tackle they've ruled it as played at.

Happy to be proven wrong though.

Who said I was blaming to the refs ... I was questioning a ruling that was different to many I have seen over the last several years.

Go back to my original post in this thread where I said and I quote "our defence wasn't NRL standard today"

Lol at the people that blame Oates solely for the loss.

He made some poor choices, but Carrigan fluffed enough passes on his own, Karpani still very new, Walters had a shocker relatively and the usual we tried scoring on every play. Reynolds cant come back soon enough.

Madden had a good game, was always backing up so if anything thats good.

@Sproj just give me my post game list so I can **** this round off and forget about it.

Blame the weak gutted nrl that has created this problem by not enforcing the rules and allowing players to have a second go at playing it on the mark, like they don’t know what they are doing by moving metres forward from it. There is no disincentive for players not to do it, refs will call them out maybe once a set at best, and half the time they still play it off the mark, and in the meantime the markers will try and hold them to the mark & then get penalised a set restart or they will get momentum off a shortened line. Every side does it, some more than others, but it is blatant cheating & drives me nuts. One day the media will have a brain fart and be awoken to it and pressure the nrl into a “crackdown”.
