POST GAME [Round 12, 2024] Broncos vs Titans

I was out for the day and just checked the score and thought there was a glitch or something. I don't know the context of the match but losing to that titans side is pathetic. Just sad.

No context needed, we were thoroughly outenthused yet again. Atrocious defence, some bad luck along the way didn't help but our opposite ran harder and hit harder and as a result the Tits deserved the win.

The reality is, we have some understandable holes in the team with so many injuries. Karapani just doesn't have the fitness, Oates is past it sadly and honestly, Walters is turning into a bit of a liability. We have too many of our big names also playing banged up and well down on their best in terms of Haas, Walsh, Mam and Staggs. We are also really missing Arthars and so much of our first choice depth.

It isn't all doom and gloom but this origin period is not going to be as easy or as full of wins as last year.
So did the Titans, who arguably have more big players out, and were already a substandard team. I don't see them playing shit footy.

Riki our best player today and it isn’t even close. We missed staggs

Piakura is suffering from his first season playing full games, we should have got a player to fill in better than what we have

I don’t want to say it but Oates is done. He isn’t breaking tackles, he’s got slower and his bad is now outweighing his good

I can’t take this seriously given we got beaten by a team with half their starters out. Sometimes our team just needs a whack

Hopefully that is the loss that brings everyone to earth and focus.

The last several weeks we have played pretty average but won because we had wins over easy teams or teams that played poorly.

Anytime we hit a team that was reasonable and played decently we have lost and lost badly.

We have to stop trying to win pretty. Last year we exceeded because our players ran and tackled harder than the opposition. The pretty stuff came after that. We have not done that this season.

They have Erin Clark who I swear to God is the greatest player of all time in post context metres I have ever seen

Left edge has defended poorly all season. Which is why I don't understand why move Cobbo to the right?? The left edge should be disrupted as little as possible.
My thoughts also, like a few weeks back we moved Staggs to the left. Why weaken both sides?

Because they were accommodating their weaker link. Karaipani has primarily played on the left and since he did the job the week before, they kept him there.

Cobbo can play either side.

Neither our defence nor the officiating was NRL standard today.

I would like to know one thing though ... Regarding the knock on rulings against Jock and Cobbo, have they officially changed that interpretation or is it one of their usual one-off game changes .... Because in those situations they have for the last 5 years been ruling that if a tackler makes contact with the ball while attempting a tackle it is not played at hence play on. Not how they ruled today

Absolute pissweak display. Titans had no one.
Again, we weren’t mentally up for it. They thought they had it won before a ball was kicked. Eyes on the bye, origin and the automatic 2 points they thought they had.
I’d be making a few changes.

Having our third bye late in the year is not the go... we barely needed it last year because we were entrenched in the top 4... we basically had a bye in the last round because we rested everyone anyway.

With the internationals, short preseason and Vegas trip we should've always been looking for an early first bye ... we look absolutely dead out there today and haven't had energy for weeks now with the catch and wrapping in defence.

Unfortunately the origin guys won't be getting a break until who knows when... our third bye that isn't origin is Rd 24... so they'll be getting rests during weeks when we need them.

Thought Kev got his interchange wrong today. Went away from what was working

Worst defence since the Siebold days. No way Cobbo should have been switched. All it did was weaken both side in defence.

On Corey Oates, plain to see he doesn't have the speed any more. To be fair though, he had to prepare as a second rower for a good chunk of the season. I think if Arthars plays we would have won that game.
