Round 12 - Broncos vs Manly - Pre-Match Discussion

He's been playing left wing for Wynnum, scored a good try on the weekend with great hands, hard now to go from the wing every week to 6 at NRL.

Disappointed Kahu hasn't been able to play in the 6 or even fullback but it would be hard for a Q cup side to drop their players for Kahu. Maybe if an injury strikes he might get a go in the 6 for Wynnum.

its dce. i reckon he will play. he always plays. he did a hammy a month ago which was supposed to be 2 to 3 weeks on teh sidelines but he said "nope i'm playing" and just did.

And thats the problem. Its actually a calf injury and manly have said their doctors have said he shouldnt be playing, but he continues to play on. He should skip the broncos game and round 13 to make sures he ok for origin 2 but he seems to think he can play like this all year

Spot on. Wouldn't care as much if Cronk was fit but now we absolutely need DCE at 100% for Origin 2 so missing a few games now is the obvious choice.

Mal should be getting in his ear and telling him not to play in this game.

Manly without Foran, DCE and possibly Watmough will be easier to beat.

Hunt being selected for Origin could be a good thing for us.

Best case scenario. ..

One of our Kids gets selected to replace Hunt in the Broncos team due to necessity.

That kid shines. And takes Hoffmans place at 6

Hoffman moves to wing

Reality:

6. Hoffman
7. Stagg

i am confident dce will be good to go for game 2.

if not, then i reckon the opportunity for hunt would do wonders for his game, if it was given to him.

NRL.com is saying Foran and Lyon will be right to play in this, a likely halves combo you would expect.

This will be a tough game regardless of who is in their side.

Foran in?

Well, we are screwed.

Origin would kill Hunt IMO. He's not even played half a season at #7 in the NRL! I love him and have always been one of his biggest supporters BUT he has not shown that he can handle pressure at this stage, even in NRL games let alone with this Origin series on the line, in Sydney. I think he will handle the pressure, in time, but as it stands I think it would destroy him. We need experienced heads in Game 2...Hunt is NOT the answer in any way, shape or form. Not this year.

Inglis to 6.

Tate to left centre.

Undecided on wing.

I'm sure I heard the only reason Toovey had been risking DCE was because that pair were injured. If they make a return it would be foolish of them to risk more injury to Cherry.

I would start Hodges off the bench . I thought he looked sound in origin. We really need him to have any chance. Manly have such an ace back line they are bound to score at least 3 or 4 tries. Where will ours come from without Hodges? Our only really consistent line breakers are Hodges and Hunt. We. Will need more then just Hunt. We should be able to grind out at least a competitive game, but if. Manly get into top gear, it could get horrible, especially if Lyon is on for a game.
